Spectacular instrument, gentlemen!!! I've been playing with it almost non-stop for the past few days, and I LOVE both the sound (oh, it's delicious!) and the interfaces (truly cool).
In a way, this way-ahead-of-its-time Novachord is a thrilling case of going "back to the basics." I'm finding the use of something so relatively-simple and so beautiful in tone to be quite refreshing!
My only request:
Any way to do text-entry for specific numeric values on the knobs? Could this be added to the contextual menu (which currently just allows MIDI CC assignments), perhaps? Sometimes, I need very exact values (especially with release and velocity); while I know that I can fine-adjust with "shift-clicks," I'd rather just plop in the exact number and be happy.
(Note: I'm just using Kontakt Player 4 at the moment -- would using the full Kontakt 4 allow this?)
Phil Cirocco did some unbelievable work in restoring his Novachord:

Beyond the sheer amazing novelty of this instrument lies a really fantastic synth! And I had absolutely NO idea that Hammond had this in their history...

Hi,
we're really glad you're enjoying it so much, it's always very gratifying to hear.
I don't think the data entry thing is possible in KSP, but I'll check with Dan!
cheers
James

Quick (and possibly idiotic) question, because I'm rushing right now): how did you get the unison for the lead presets? Could I create my own, and how? (Still using Kontakt Player 4 until the full version arrives with Komplete 6.) Any help would be greatly appreciated!

it's the Unison/mono script that ships with Kontakt.
if you look in the 'templates' folder, there should be a template there with it loaded up.
if there isn't ( i'm not able to check right now ) email us and we'll make you one.

Thanks a bunch!!! Don't worry, I'm sure that I'll find it, so I shouldn't have to bug you about leads again... [fingers crossedsoniccouture wrote:it's the Unison/mono script that ships with Kontakt.

Just incredibly gorgeous sounds to my ear. This Novachord project, in addition the Glass Works and Pan Drum, have me looking for a third job to afford. Golly, nice work!

I have just purchased the novachord, and I'm sure enjoying it!
However, it would be nice to have all those presets in a bank--I'm doing it now, just so I can audition them all quickly.... 1939 patches first, and then a bank of dual-Layer patches.
But it would be nice to do this tedious work just once for everyone. I can upload them somewhere if that works. Actually, I'm surprised you didn't do this in-house, just for QA purposes.
Also, it would sure be great to have a set of lite samples for live use. I will go 64-bit someday, and then I won't care much, I guess.
Thanks for making this great instrument available!

dang, kontakt crashed before I could finish. Is this why there are no banks???

Yep. At about 100 instances of novachord in a bank, Kontakt's memory usage sits at 2.4 gig!! Thats 25 mb per patch. Pretty steep. Do you know how that is all being used?
Meanwhile, the memory display in Kontakt sits nicely at 75 mb....
I'm wondering if the 4.2 file system will help that. Maybe I'll go test it.
makes me wish Kontakt had a way of reusing objects in a bank, much like it does with the samples themselves.
cheers,
-eric
