ACE is great but I still don't understand a lot of it, I could do with Groove 3 or Nick or someone to do a proper long turorial video I can spend a few hours on and get it understood.
Or even just some more youtube stuff.
Anyone game?
Am I the only idiot who hasn't got to learn it properly?

As said already, don't wait (no sale anyways beyond an already low price)... this is an amazing synth!spirit wrote:I've been playing with the demo and love it. I'm waiting for a Christmas special

well, I suppose it wouldn't do any harm to have another look I cant say I read every word. I did nicks videos on Analog and operator and learned them pretty well, could do with something like that.Zork wrote:Did you read the manual?

Me too, I'm really comfortable with Zebra but don't really 'get' ACE well enough to do anything beyond very basic stuff.bailees7irish wrote:i would like a tutorial video as wellkennyda wrote:well, I suppose it wouldn't do any harm to have another look I cant say I read every word. I'm not alone!
It's more basic than specific questions. I don't really know where to start. I will watch the vid that does exist again and go through the manual and see if I can get to grips with it.
I think urs should get nick or groove 3 to do one because its a good selling point to have a tutorial vid. Mark Mosher did one which is ok for people with a bit more knowledge but its only 10 minutes. Nicks ones are 2 hours.

ok, been trying for a couple of hours. I can't print the manual which is a shame but I have made the basic diagram my desktop background for now and I have made some inroads, I think I need to just keep at it.
Presets are ok but personally I would rather have a 2 hour training video which teaches you how to make a few useful sounds while ramming all the basics into your head as nick's tutorials do so well (and groove 3)
I would make my own but I hate the sound of my voice when I hear it recorded.
Not even attempted any of that wiring business yet.

I don't know how far anyone asking for video has gone, but I can share my experience, which was that everything became easy after familiarizing myself with how it was hard wired, and after that, it was just a matter of overriding/bypassing the hard wired signals.
For anyone visual (like myself) there's a diagram in the manual, illustrating how it is hard wired.
Also, don't discount reading the manual... It's very well written, short and precise. I actually converted it to .mobi and epub formats to read on my Kindle (since I hate reading on the computer screen).
Lastly, don't be afraid to deconstruct any presets. The purpose here would be to understand the signal flow. A lot of sounds can be achieved by a number of choices, but in some cases equal results.

There will be videos... mostly little tutorials though, but also basic overviews. Been promising these for years, but now I found the right man to do it (the Howie himself)

I LOVE ACE !!
I Bought it just when in came out
It's amazing even when I don't always know what I am doing with it
I am not a synth expert so I more experiment than "design" the sound with ACE.
cheers
