same ..so far just messed around making bells.
with the rule change I've been leaning towards an FM synth (oxefm or ganymed)...but the idea of making an entire track with it seems daunting...but i guess it's a challenge.:)
we must remember each and every sound in the track needs to be made with the chosen synth.....so bells are only a little part of it really (unless ofc someone wanna make an entire composition of just bells oO).

'Enthusiasm Curves,' by mrblitz000: Renoise Host, 5x Famisynth 2.5, Poor Plate Reverb on left side instrument, Buzmaxi3 on all tracks, JB Ferox on main out, some filtering and automation there and about...

Ferox might not be 'legal,' but as a 'tape emulator,' it was employed in an attempt to give the thing a 'vintage' sound. The main thing Ferox did, was to up the volume of the thing.

Well thank you Blitzoo; I just discovered Ferox.

james, in this instance, i'm employing ferox to give the overall mix something like a +12db boost. It seems as though Famisynth itself is kind of 'quiet.' So, i got to mixdown and saw that the overall level was low, and for a second thought of eq or compression to bring the volume up, then - on the spur of the moment - decided to slap ferox on there instead.

in this case, ferox is fairly subtle, and - to my ear at least - isn't doing much to change the sound; this is even with 'feedback' and 'saturation' turned up a bit above their default levels.

as an aside, (and you may already realize this) ferox can do some really cool effects. for instance, automating the 'tape speed' knob in an extreme way (like going 100% to 0% in say, less than a second's time); it produces a really cool, momentary 'tape stop' sort of effect.

the 'feedback' knob is also capable of an extreme effect.

thus far, i haven't really looked at the rest of it (ferox) wrt to 'FSU.'

anyway, ferox does some 'tapey' things to a sound, and i like it even more; because it's easy on CPU.

in this case, it's pretty much just a 'volume booster.' will that be enough to cause my being 'named, shamed, and blamed' for employing an 'illegal effect?' ...only time will tell (;

the bottom line is; i really like JB Ferox!

Just a wee update ... well on with my track, but having decided to create a new synth to do this one, I'm a wee bit bogged down with tweaking the synth to make the track tweaks possible :) .... yeah, true, I am a bit mad, I could have just settled for synth1 .... but .... :)

Ooh... Smallqoo... can't wait to hear this! (usually wait until all entries are in). This sounds really good! Little smallqoo is amazing.

Hehe, thanks... Smaller is easier/faster to program ;) Unfortunately I see most of interest only towards bigger synths with more features.

True. I'm not a fan of big synths with 76354 functions where sounds happen mostly by chance, either... they're interesting and can sound impressive, but I prefer to have a sound in mind and just program what I had in mind fast and easy on a relatively small synth.

I can't read post well and don't have time too. Just I can see this.

** One-Synth-Challenge 23: Any Synth **

Good news!! great step.

but If I add one, How about add song preset(like fxp) If composer want it. because I had listen very good songs at last synth1 contest. and I had wished to get that presets.

I think, if some people do it, at least, more many people will listen contest songs.
I like music

We're trying to keep this thread only about current OSC edition. Please follow this link (to our One-Synth-Challenge: General discussion thread):

for my answer on your suggestion.

Oh... and there's more than a week to the deadline, so you still have a time to participate if you'd like to :)

Would SynthMaster be allowed? I don't know whether it is samples or generates its own sounds but as I've just bought it I've ended up with quite a lot of a tune done while figuring it out..

It allows both. i.e. samples & generate from scratch.
Works at KV331 Audio
SynthMaster voted #1 in MusicRadar's "Best Synth of 2019" poll
SynthMaster One voted #4 in MusicRadar's "Best Synth of 2019" poll

the only rule is that the synth should not contain samples/wavetables
i read synthmaster comes with many wavetables .
if u avoid using the wavetables a blind eye could be turned i suppose...

I've started my entry late this time around. I have a few different bell sounds that I'm happy with and the basis of a melody. Took me forever to decide on a synth to use. Things are about to get real busy around here with the holidays, so I hope I can find time to finish it.
