I hate to see this slagging going on...DashW is a very cool concept that needs some ironing out. Kinda visionary in fact. I've only seen evidence of the Dash folks credibility and coming up with excellent product at budget rates. For the most part, I agree with whoever said this was learning by doing. Those that don't want to jump on board at this point, have the option. Those who are willing to take the ride and see where it leads do so with their eyes open. I don't see any subterfuge or bad faith.
There is a recent post on the Dash forum which may be quite illuminating pertaining to William K's plight.

Either way I dont have a problem in the purchase.
I DONT WANT William or DS to give their work away. Let me repeat that. I DONT WANT William or DS to give their work away.
This aint about the new sounds, or the money involved. It quit being so since William let his bull dog mouth overload his humming bird ass by stating, no restrictions and sign up whenever you like...
My point has nothing to do with stealing sounds, freeloading, or taking advantage of William. I have already said I wont be getting the new sounds from DashW, and unless William comes clean with admitting to me he made a mistake by telling me what he did, instead of now sounding like he knew what he was doing all along (which he did not) and blaming it (again) on freeloaders instead of his unability to see the fact that He DID say we could do what He now says we should not do, then I wont ever get any of the new sounds from any source.
This is not about the sounds, or the money. Its about admitting the truth. !st- Quit blaming the truth on freeloading William, and face the facts that you didnt think the whole thing out before spewing words out to me that we could in fact do, what you are so sure of now that we cant without getting "red flag-ed"...
Cant you even admit you screwed up William? Thats all Im after here... Cant you even say the words, Im sorry I mislead you, but I wasnt thinking when I wrote that reply to you? Are you just all too important, stubborn or special to admit your mistakes William? Others have said it for you here... I want to here this from YOU. All I want from you, is for you to claimed the real bad mistake made, instead of all these "freeloader" and "give my work away" excuses you are so sure of now, that I was after.... Jezzz why is it so hard for people to apologize when they need to?

I'm sorry bud, maybe I shouldn't have said some things, but to be honest, I'm more sorry to see an user like you to react like that. I still think this is all about free stuff, just that. I'm sorry that I first said one thing and had to pull back once I saw that people would just go and take advatange of things.spikey wrote:Cant you even admit you screwed up William? I won't talk about this anymore, just is pure waste of time.

Kind of you to reply William. Let me explain to you why I think your comment to me earlier was so important to straighten out without excuses.
I am guilty of making a mountain out of a mole hill to you and others. It looks as though Im picking, and should just have let it drop, assuming you saw the mistake and corrected it meaning no disrespect.
I reacted like that, because when a man says he will do something , either he sticks to it, or he apologizes for not being able to do it with reasons, without having been asked to (even if I did ask). Your word William, what you say you can and will do, to and for others, mean everything. Back out on them, and then your word become's nothing...
Yes, I know the world is ruled by money, and an honest man without money still cant pay his bills. And- had I said what you did, I would have changed my mind and options too, but then added the reasons why, with an apology to end with. But thats just me, and hind sight is 20-20...
Thanks so much for your apology, and I appreciate your answers and reply. Altho I am still confused on why you think this idea of mine above is and should be so unimportant to so many, I must confess my lack of tack in the whole thing as well. In retrospect, I guess we both could have done better, and i hope I/we have learned something here besides how to piss each other off. Sorry if I offended anyone in my bluntness. Hopefully we live and learn.
regards William...

quit the pseudo-ethical 'man of his word' crusade please. If you don't like the deal, thats really fine. Some do not, some do. Even if William did say one thing and, realising the potential for consumer manipulation of the system, has know expressed another, umm, so what? These guys practically run their business in public and consequently, have quite a scope for such oversites or mistakes. The flip side of this is lots of room for constructive customer feedback. This aint about the new sounds, or the money involved. Ded Lynx quoth People aren't buying into your vsti subscription idea.
Actually, some people have expressed an interest, so you're wrong here.
Just think if 1000 people subscribe at the "discount" rate of 199.00 a year that's nearly $200,000.00 a year.
And if you could fart cheese you'd feed a lot of mice.
But you obviously know absolutely zero about the sales figures of VSTi's. Hypothetical bullshit is no basis for an argument.
And you say you're not in it for the money? You are the most money grubbing developer in the market.
And you are a wanker making up spurious hypotheticals in order to bolster an ignorant attack.
Rgc has given us Triangle 1,Triangle 2,and Sfz FREE.Linplug has given us FreeAlpha and RMF FREE.Muon has given us Tau FREE.Green Oak has given us Crystal FREE.Ichiro Toda has given us Synth1-FREE.
And what does that prove? Oh yeah, absolutely nothing.
What vsti has has Dash Synthesis given the community?
Where exactly does it say that they have to, BTW?
BUT FYI, in their earlier incarnation, they gave away a whole load of Reaktor ensembles. If you care to do even the most basic research (which for a retard of your stature might actually be harder than for most people) you would also find something called GlitchMb on their website. Its a VSTi.
But yet you're worried about people who pay you getting "free" stuff.
Yeah, he's worried about a loophole that makes it unfair for other customers. Well, aint that just plain evil of him.
Then just sell the soundsets separately and forget the subscription idea.
Because of cheapskates, and assholes like you? That would be a shame. I personally think WK should rethink the approach, and I've made suggestions, but I dont see any reason for Dash to completely abandon a novel and somewhat interesting business model.
I do consider there to be flaws in its current incarnation, and I do find William to be prone to shifting his business strategy too much, but neither of those things mean that I think he should stop trying.
You seem like a nice young man,an up and coming developer but as a businessman you are an idiot.
And as a human being you seem like a fuckwit, and are a waste of potential fertiliser.

hmmmnnn ...
... havent read the whole of this but my knee-jerk reaction ...
... dont be too hard on william here - as has been said he has always been VERY open about what he does and what hes trying to achieve - yes he makes mistakes occasionally and yes he DOES flit around different business models ...
... but he DOES write VERY good vsti and sells them at reasonable prices ... and with dashW he IS trying to do something different and innovative i think and deserves our support ...
... as i said - this concept is basically growing up in public and will stand or fall on our response to it - surely its better to allow william to change his mind and get the system as tight as he can while still being fair and commercially attractive ???
and on the subject of freebies etc - dash might not use freeware as the loss-leader that some developers do but i think youll find that william is one of the most accomodating developers when it comes to individual bundles / packages and deals for both new and existing customers - his post-sale customer service is also up there with the best in my experience
good luck with dashW mate

Forgive me William when this has been asked before: (I didn´t read the last posts because of this strange guy)
Ok, maybe once again:
Erm, why does the price stand there like a stone?
What about different categories?
As I can read here most of the guys like to have the soundsets, but I would prefer (if I would like ya VSTi´s...) rent the synths (much lower price of course)...or like a bit of leasing.
As I can read here it´s only black and white.
And the reaktor ens / SynC will be in that offer as well, right. Right.

Probably not, Ingo. DashSignature doesnt do DashSynthesis stuff at all. But William was selling all the Reaktor stuff of his on one CD for about $20 a while back.

The most important vote a person casts is with their wallet.
I own all the Dash synths and would like to see more.
I just subscribed for a year to DashW.
