Howard, I don't see any mention of the Factory soundbank in the manual. In particular I think people might be a bit surprised with your unique directory names like "6 Lupines" or "8 Perkers".
Perhaps a short section in the manual explaining your preset naming structure might help people know where to expect certain types of presets? Otherwise new users will have to manually search, load, and audition presets from each area.
Also, any chance of some of the Zebra Science tips and tricks making it into the manual too?

Ok, I have not been an avid KVR user for that long, but I've seen many of your posts and maybe my suspicions made me pay extra attention... are you by any chance THE Howard that wrote the chapter "3: Programming Classic Analogue Sounds" for the Virus series? (This chapter is a regular goldmine of sound creation and laughter!)Howard wrote:New version up - see OP
Well, if that is indeed the case, I have to humbly put in a request of including THAT chapter with reference to Zebra2 instead.
People, if this is that Howard and he has the power to fulfill the request, you will want it. Best text on sound analog creation in existence! (I didn't say this just to butter you up, Howard. I mean it! A bible on the subject.)

@Elektrobolt: I'll have another look at that chapter in the Virus tutorial - thanks for the reminder.
BTW: the one true "Bible" (tutorial book) will be called "Taming the Zebra" or something. The document here is just the Manual / User Guide

I wanted to call my presetbank for Zebra "Untamed Zebra"
Cheers

That's great, you could then release a twin bank: "Tamed Zebra"!Bronto Scorpio wrote:I wanted to call my presetbank for Zebra "Untamed Zebra"

Hi,
I'm new to Zebra and I really appreciate this manual. Thanks a million!
1st: the sound of Zebra, of course
2nd: you can rescale the GUI. I can't stress enough how important that is. At least for me.
3rd: the concept behind the GUI. I like the idea that only modules are shown which are used in a particular sound.
This synth is fun, fun, fun!

Will there really be such a document?? I ask because Zebra is the first VSTi synth which I really like to experiment with (and don't just use factory sounds). This has two, no, actually three reasons.BTW: the one true "Bible" (tutorial book) will be called "Taming the Zebra" or something. The document here is just the Manual / User Guide

Howard is THE guy who wrote the Virus "chapters". One of the best written on and for a synth that I also (next to Zebra, lol) love very much!!!opus_diaboli wrote:Will there really be such a document??
It is both funny, has a bunch of cool tips and alternate ways of doing the same thing, to expand your horizon. VERY good and entertaining reading, as well as absolutely useful, of course.
I had always thought it would be cool to pay tribute to Howard, but I never knew or had any "ties" to him until I found him here!
Howard has got some pretty awesome tricks up his sleeve for anyone interested in making sounds. After a while, one hopefully picks up the notion of a sound and can sort of "figure out" a sound and replicate it, but having notes and tips like he has in that document, taught me specifically how the Virus "differed" from the "traditional" synths which I am more used to (and like) and how to do things that other synths did, but in an infected way.
Having a similar paper from a Zebra's perspective will certainly make me SEE the stripes... ehrm... open doors that I can only dream of at the moment, and I am not a "noob" to synth programming. It's just that there's so much to Zebra that it will be very helpful to have pointers from tips and notes.
Anyone unfamiliar with Howard Scarr, might want to check this out:

Oh right... Thank you, Howard!
