Questions for Jemap or anyone else using this fantastic tool:

- is it just me or is the octave knob for Ocs 2 not working?
- why is there only an Osc 1 knob for LFO 1; doesn't LFO 1 apply to all three Osc's?

Thanks in advance! :)

Post

- I've just tested that Osc2 octave knob is working well;

- Lfo1 can modulate level of Osc1 only. Lfo2 can modulate levels of Osc1 and Osc2. Those are Novation's KS-synths series specifications.

Thanks jemap!

I must check on the Xio itself if my Osc2 octave shift is working, as it definitely doesn't change from your editor for me.

And why, oh why, did they specify such a great synth with this LFO limitation I wonder? :(

Post

I can confirm that the Osc2 octave knob on the editor doesn't work with my Xio. Changing the octave on the synth turns the knob on-screen, and changes the octave of the Osc, but turning the knob on-screen does... nothing! Strange, as everything else seems to work fine. Must be a glitch in my Xio, and it's not a big issue.

Thanks again jemap 8)

Any chance you will do an OSX port ?
... or even a jar would work .

Post

sorry, no OSX version till I don't own any Apple Mac.
I think I will never because there's no cheap Mac and I would have to learn new Mac developpement tools.

If I was a Mac user, I would also get a cheap 300€ PC notebook to access some interesting PC applications.

Post

Well ....
If you got a Midi cc and NPRN chart for the Xio I can possibly find some one who will .

Edit :
Never mind . I see Novation has one up .
P.S. the newer batch of Mac Mini's are not toys and fairly affordable ... if you ever feel the need to develop cross platform down the road .

Xio Midi CCs and NRPNs are described in that free downloadable Novation's document:
http://www.novationmusic.com/support/st ... ile=16.pdf?

I found out some other NRPNs which are missing in the documentation.

If your Mac project is launched, I'll be happy to help anyone about those NRPNs, and sysex above all.

Three new editors are freely downloadable here :

Mac Os, Win 32 and Win 64 versions are available, each with both exe and vst files.

Doesn't seem to open as a vsti or vst in Fl Studio 9 under Windows XP (using Win 32 vst version)

I have the latest Xio driver's and OS installed.

Hi Jemap! Thankyou for yourxio editor it is far much better than the CTRLR one! altough you don;t have the vst/au plugin yours is the best around.

I'm only getting one problem. The write feature doesn't work, when i move the knob to select where i want to save the xio starts looking for the present with the relevant number thus loosing the previously set(and not saved) timbre.

Am i doing something wrong or is it a setting or something?

thanks

I've just retested it. I didn't find out any Write bug.
The Write function works fine here.

Destination location is set directly on screen within the Xio Sound Designer version 3 application following those steps :
1/ Type the new sound name in the top right area (default is "New Name Here").
2/ Select the bank 1 or 2.
3/ Set the program number with the "prog" knob : program number is just above "Dest" label.
4/ Click on "Write" button.

Turning the prog/data knob on the xiosynth has no effect on the destination location.

Check the midi out is set on the XioSynth before using the "Write" button.

Hi there,

Is there any chance you could upload the OSM file for me to have a look at? I'm trying to build a midi editor to use with Traktor and so far your XIO synth editor is the only one that properly accepts midi in CC data.

thanks, Milo

The osm SynthMaker source is downloadable at unavailable link
click on the button "Xio 3 Sound Designer SynthMaker osm source".

I've learned a lot from this project and I began two new projects for evolver and Virus Ti Snow where codes are far much cleaner.

I can help you to explain any midi schematic.

I've also experienced other working personnal midi projects using the free Microsoft Visual Basic Express Edition, but sysex transfers are not behaving well for now.

Thanks! :)

Looking at the OSM file, it's pretty obvious its beyond my understanding... looks incredibly complicated!!

I've got a small midi project I'm trying to design at the moment. It's basically an on-screen midi controller for NI Traktor. It's as simple as 10 midi CC knobs and a midi controllable menu that allows you to change the function of the 10 midi knobs from a small selection of CC's. It should be able to accept midi in and output midi but doesn't require any audio/sound generation.

I'd be willing to actually paypal someone a small donation if they were willing to develop it for me... let me know if you're interested. I suspect it'd be less than a couple of hours of work... :)
