Yeah, good luck getting people agreeing to have you curate the patch contest. You sound real "fair".

you guys are looking real impartial here
haha don't sweat it guys I've offered my suggestion there's not much more to be said and it's not worth offering arguments over every minutiæ

Good luck with the next competition!

And, again, sorry if I'm wrong, but you're looking an awful lot like someone who's been banned under a couple of different aliases.

doesn't surprise me as I was already nearly banned today for speaking in the "zebra locked" thread!

Just to reply to this.

I suggested the idea of using some kind of online folder for submissions in part because I didn't want to just assume that you would be happy doing the boring bit (and partly to avoid relying upon one person), but if you're still okay with it and wish to continue I don't have a problem with that - in fact, quite the opposite. :)

Thanks for the concern! However, it doesn't bother me at all and I'm glad to help everyone keep this contest series alive. :)
joelcorriveau wrote:1. How about a contest inspired by a fine art image. The image could imply a sound specifically (like this) or it could be more abstract (like this). The object is to then create a patch that best captures - or interprets - the tone/mood/vibe of the image.
An excellent idea, I'm all for this.

Another good idea.

Artistically interpreted Zebralette presets would definitely be different and sounds fun too. :)

Great! :)

Okay, 24 hours or so for people to express an opinion about the theme for the next contest (and any other general views regarding how the contests are run).

My vote goes for making a patch - any patch - with Zebralette.

I like Joel's idea re the surrealist paintings, but I reckon that would make a better contest on its own - combining the two, Zebralette + Painting, ups the complexity/difficulty level a notch or two which risks putting people off.

How about a single note patch that last over an hour. Seriously though, I look forward to participating in this as it is lots of fun and thanks for hosting.

I think Zebralette is a great theme.

My idea for interpreting a fine art image could happen another time. I'll go on a more extensive hunt for an image, and post it in higher quality than those examples I showed.

I think that the trick would be to find something that doesn't very obviously suggest one particular sound - eg a painting of a violin would just be a 'make a violin patch contest' - yet isn't so open to interpretation that it might as well be a freestyle 'make whatever patch you want contest'.

Perhaps people could use an image of their choosing and put a URL for the image in the patch description?

I like joelcorriveau's idea and this variation, just as an interested party. I'd love to hear the interpretations!

Here's the Zebralette Patch Contest
