Just a question , why is the resonance setting of the xmf in zebra so sensitive ?
Bassicaly , just applying a little bit of resonance , lowers the overal output (frequency ) of the filter .especialy with the lp 2 /analogue setting .
I have to crank up the overload dial in order to hear the output decently , but this also lowers the resonance significantly ....
Just take a standard saw wave , choose an xmf filter , analogue setting lp2 , cut off wide open , now cranck up the resonance ...at setting 30 , the sound has lowered significantly ,
Now that I think of it , the filters in the filterscape ( synth ) plugin feel and act more responsive and it's easier to find a sweet spot , you know for that rubbery squelchy sound , what do you think about implementing those filters into zebra ?

Just guessing - maybe the XMF is modelled upon analogue filters in which applying resonance has just that effect?
And I don't know how Filterscape's filter behaves, but perhaps using one of Zebra's other VCF's would get you closer to what you want?

FWIW, going by my DAW's output meter, adding resonance to Zebra's XMF at 50% Cutoff doesn't appear to significantly reduce the levels - the reduction in volume is perceived, rather than being due to a change in the overall level of energy output.

Well you must be doing something wrong then , like I said turn cut off full open , then apply some resonance ,( a value of 20 is enough ) the output is lowered significantly .
I know this is common on analogue synts and common to most filters ,when aplying reso to the cutoff freq , the cutof point is boosted but here the effect is verry noticeable , when cutoff is fully open

Okay, I was looking at it with the cutoff half way open - but, yes, at 100% open the output decreases as resonance is added.
The rest of my response still applies - how about using one of Zebra's other VCF's?

that is how it is on the XMF... the vintage filters are similar... others not at all. Find one that suits your needsgentleclockdivider wrote:Well you must be doing something wrong then , like I said turn cut off full open , then apply some resonance ,( a value of 20 is enough ) the output is lowered significantly .
