This is great news. After all these years, the long awaited "stutter edit" and "break tweeker" effects look like they are going to finally get released.
Update 1/13/2011: Stutter Edit now released: http://www.izotope.com/products/audio/stutteredit/

Ha! I'm not surprised that BT is partnering with iZotope for this. I bet they met at Kevin Walt's wedding.
He gets a lot of crap here, but I kinda like Mr. Transeau. The few times I've met him he's always come across as down-to-earth and genuinely enthusiastic.

He helped Tori Amos make one of the few "trance" influenced tracks I really like - Blue Skiesjustin3am wrote:Ha! I'm not surprised that BT is partnering with iZotope for this. I bet they met at Kevin Walt's wedding.

He also just got nominated for a grammy for his "These Hopeful Machines" as best electronic album of the year.
IMO his most amazing work was his 2006 "This Binary Universe", a non-dance album in complex time signatures featuring some of the deepest electronic work ever (Keyboard magazine wrote "In a hundred years, it could well be studied as the first major electronic work of the new millennium. It's that good.")
But he does deserve some jabs for the "soon to be released" software that's been coming for over half a decade. I saw some video previews (no longer posted) back in 2007 and it looked impressive.
Good move passing this on to Izotope. He's an innovator, but does best staying in the creative mode.

Stutter Edit is out. And they did a windows version (which wasn't going to be the case a few years back).
It looks like it has a very comprehensive interface -- much deeper than any stutter product I've ever seen.

I suppose you're happy enough with Glitch freebie? This isn't glitch.
StutterEdit is a cutting edge product. What you're paying for is way more control and flexibility than any of the alternatives available, plus plenty of new features never before on a stutter effect -- did you bother to look at the screenshots or the details? Here's a demo video on their site: http://www.izotope.com/products/audio/stutteredit/
BTW - it's $149 introductory.

Looks pretty cool at first glance, but yeah, the price seems a bit steep although I see that there is an intro price of $149. Has anybody compared this to Artillery 2, The Finger, etc.?
Logic Pro | LUNA Pro | OB-X8 | Prophet 6 | OB-6 | Trigon 6 | Rev2 | TEO-5 | Pro 3 | SE-1X | Minitaur | Integra-7 | TR-1000 | Analog RYTM mk2 | Digitakt 2 | TD-3 MO | TD-3 | Maschine+

Glitch isn't the only stammerer in town these days and t-ttt-ttt-tt t t-two Huh-hu-hundred a-aaa-aa-a-an fe-fe-fe-fifty boys is taking the piss almost as much as the c**t claiming to have invented chopping up audio and rearranging it.
But if like you, I was getting a free copy, then I would also defending this cuntlike pricing.
No, that Glitch is meant to be there.....

their pricing is hilarious! even the intro pricing.
I think this is a $99 plugin at the absolute max.
anyone want to compare it with buffeater ?

It looks much more comparable to Lucifer2 than a lot of the other effects it's being compared to. That said, it would be more exciting to me if I didn't already have Lucifer2 (which is still the one to beat as far as I'm concerned).

That's quite the wrong assumption.Grain Bastard wrote:But if like you, I was getting a free copy ....
I hoped to see pricing closer to $99, but if advanced stutter control is important to your production and this fits your needs, the difference isn't worth complaining about. I've been watching for this specific release for years along with others. This is a specialty effect that I believe is going to be used by some A list performers, producers and sound designers.
Time will tell if the average musician will buy this. Izotope has a pretty good track record for delivering products worth the asking price.
