A very simple patch: square wave, low pass filter controlled by an lfo and a global lfo to control the 1st lfo rate, then i added external distortion (camel crusher free). How i can improve it?

I am sure that you can do something better or give me some very needed suggestion!

Here we go with the patch and the mp3 sample:

Code: Select all

Have fun!

PS: as i wrote in the patch notes LFO global should be disabled to automate manually the LFO on the LPF

I make quite a bit of dubstep and most of my basses come out of zebra.
Try using an mseg to control the cutoff. It allows you to "sequence" the wobble. Try the xmf filter for added distortion.
Vertical lines in the mseg give a nice snappy sound.
Try bandpass filters instead of lowpass filters. They make the wobble more obvious (always layer with a seperate sub)
For that modern sound use a stack of harsh digital waveforms instead of a square.
Phasers are nice to add extra movement to the sound.

Etc etc.

Maybe I should post some of my patches.

Kyran: Please do! I'm always curious to study people's patches, there's so much to learn from them.
