Hi
Im a hobbyist, and Zebra is already waaay too expensive for me, but I should be able to buy it in the next month or two. However, one thing that I don't know or cannot find on the uhe site, is; how does the updates work? A purchase entitles you to updates for how long?
Also, demo mode, apart from the detuning of keys, does it do anything else? I have this random/subtle/squelshy noise popping up in my track in Reaper every few minutes while Zebra2 is loaded.
Thanks!
Regards
M

Zebra does those random notes. everything else e.g. zebralette, uhbik, zebrify does vinyl-like crackles.
Updates have typically been free, I have once charged 20$ for the upgrade from Zebra 1.x to 2.x, about 4 years ago. I'm willing to keep updates free for as long as I possibly can.

The demo does not include this "squelchy" sound.mbvdlza wrote:Hi

You should maybe check that in another plugin host.
Try this free one and see if it still does it.

If your on a mac, you should try it in Garageband.
The demo can also load and save. So try some other presets out from here.

Zebra is the best synth investment I have ever made. The license agreement is generous so if you have more than 1 computer you can use it on them as long as it is you using it. I purchased Zebra when v2 was just soon to be released. Since then there have been 2-3 paid upgrades worth of features added at no extra cost. Also, Zebra does not become obsolete. For example, Gladiator was eclipsed by ElectraX. Their latest developments went into a new synth so if you want the companies latest work, you have to buy a whole new synth. When Urs develops something new, the new stuff will find its way into Zebra and so your investment continues to provide new developments. Not only is Zebra one of the few best synths you can buy today, but it is also the best dollar value over time.mbvdlza wrote:Hi

I'm also a hobbyist with a limited budget for toys. Zebra 2.0 was my first hobby purchase and I haven't regretted it once. Since 2006 we've gotten a new factory library by Howard Scarr, the new XMF filters, revamped GUI, new modules like sideband, new oscillator FX options, a crazy number of amazing presets all for free. I've heard from older Zebra 1.0 users the upgrade fee was more than fair too (something like $20-$25).
Urs is also very accessible and open with his customers. A recent example is Sendy asked for wave wrapping Osc FX options. Once Urs understood the idea he implemented it in the latest Z2 beta and we all win. Good luck getting your pet idea incorporated into BigCorp Synth 2011.
On top of that you can save $50 on the cost with the Dinosaur crossgrade feature:

Urs has said to be creative on the submissions, he just might accept something unique or unexpected. Well worth $50.
I don't regret the purchase one bit.
