I'm interested in filterscape, have had the demo on my harddisk for some time. It seems like a winning concept, but I wonder how easy it is to use..Can one get useful predictable results. Anyone care to enlighten me on how they use their Filterscape?
I own UHBIK and as an exercise I tried to set up a chain of UHBIK's to sort of do what Filterscape does and quickly realized how powerful an intergrated filter machine like this is. Wow.
One more thing though with all that going on the interface seems a little small, I wonder if it's possible to make it bigger like in ACE..
Regards

Anyone have any tracks that heavily use Filterscape and would you be willing to share them?
I'd be grateful for any help here! I'm a great fan of Urs work and think his way of doing things should be a model for the other developers, High quality sound, beautiful GUI's, good responsive support and fair pricing!
Thanks in advance..

Well after reading through the clearly written manual I have a few impression of the Documentation and the interface. Great stuff here for sure, a small niggle about the Documentaion though although the info that is there is clear enough, I find that for the relative newbie to the electronic music there is a lack of more in depth tutorial type examples to step a user through a purpose directed work flow.
The power of the Filterscape is easy to see, the UI is a study in good design, the sound quality is high, but can anything every match ACE !
I also listened through all the Demo track on u-he.com, er ah it seems they were made in the enthusiasm of early release of the new product. Informative yes, instructive somewhat, inspiring weellll. I just sense that the filterscape tool in a way is just not being shown at anywhere near it's full potential...
I'm warming to the idea of getting the Filterscape, and I'm thankful for sure for the info available on u-he. But some tutorials and updated fleshed out demo material would go along way to bring an increased impression of the value, usablity and usefulness of filterscape with a resultant increased level of sales that this product clearly deserves.
In essence selling such advanced tools to relative newbie's to electronic music needs some value added work... Enlighten us with your tracks, and words of wisdom Urs and others that are able to control this wonderful beast!

If you do decide to pull the trigger on Filterscape, we have a free bank of sounds for it available from the following link:

I'm hoping to get a deeper insight into uses of Filterscape before I pull the trigger on it as sound descsions are based on informed descisions!

Hi,
I hope that we'll have some video tutorials later this year. I'm trying to get Howard interested in fx, not just synths. It takes some time to convince the man to give it a try. He seems happy with MFM2, but Filterscape will need a bit more treatment.

I don't worry too much about the lack of video tutorials, I figured some users had something to say about their filterscape tool, by having a sense of solidarity with future users and showing support for a product they use would like a ring in the water expand on the subject, bring more inputs to the table on how to better use a great tool, and perhaps lay the grounds for future improvenents with well thought out feature suggestions..
Again I'd like to stress that after carefully reading the well written manual and using the Demo I'm finding out that it's easy to get started with filterscape, I'm just looking for knowledge on a deeper level from experienced users..
At any rate I've decided to get the Filterscape in the near future. I just like to get as much info as possible before I actually get gear, then I can start producing with it right away, it's like knowing how to ride a bike before you buy it!! Finally I find the piracy protection scheme with noise burst pretty disturbing to the careful listening needed for evaluating this kind of product, so it's not like I'm going to spend several hours checking it out in Demo mode..Just one more reason for the need for user feedback and reviews..

Hi Wade,
Filterscape has been left aside by me for a few years because it's a very stable and "finished" plugin - it just did not demand as much attention as for instance Zebra did. Over the years I have collected various ideas for improvements, and I have even got almost ready-to-go code for new filter types on my desk.
But because I wasn't working much on it, I think it hasn't stayed as popular as for instance Zebra or the newer plugs.
Last year I wanted to finally work on Filterscape to incorporate these new things and geenral improvements, but unfortunate events (family/health...) got in the way.
I'm having a little vacation now, and then I've planned to give Filterscape a lot of attention throughout the rest of the year.
Cheers,
Urs

Thanks for the inside info on Filterscapes past and Future Urs.. I really like the filterscape concept the design is a study in interface design, like a map of the mind, clear signal flow, everything almost at a glance. A flowing quality that is very back to the future retro in a uncanny way. I think a design like this encourages new thinking. Livens up the imagination.
What I'm often struggling with when using technology is a sense of being overwhelmed by possibilties, losing orientation, letting the tools take control. With interfaces like UHBIK, ACE, Zebra and Filterscape it seems a lotof thought has gone into keeping the whole functionality visible at a glance. This encourages the user to reach out and grab the tool and get to work...
Back to Filterscape I agree it's a finished concept that appears to work as promised. Some enhancments and refinements could be nice but as I don't own it yet I would not be qualified to suggest what needs updating.
I'll buy it when I get a look at my balance when my next purchase has gone through. end of March likely.
Rignt now filterscape is #3 on my shopping list..
