I like your sense of humour Urs and agree with your points. The only thing is that it was making sense when the endorsers were big multi-million companies (Sony, Yamaha etc) and when it was mostly hardware. This concept really don't make any sense when the companies like yours is mostly a one man show.

I feel pity for the people who will ask for a free copy(endorsement)...ummm...what a shame!

No way DocT, your sounds, and music, are top notch imo.
(even if it was directed to Urs).
Weird is a good thing to break from the norm.
I'm a fan of your music and sounds too.

Hope you'll enter the ACE patch competition this month.
Can win a free (nfr) U-he plugin too.

Great job, love it :)
I read Urs' posting and first I was like 'wtf is he up to' ?
Then I just started laughing :D
Really great.

Yeah, it's just not right. I mean if economy wasn't in so deep s...., Urs could just send them a little e-mail with list of big Hollywood movies where Zebra was used with another polite f*ck off. I think that that sonic range speaks for itself. Unfortunatelly he kinda need them.

...another example of thing in this world which is not fair, but there is no way to get it right.

Urs, if I were you, I'd force them to agree with getting their names public. So we know which of "someones idols" have such a huge egos....

Post

Hehe, the downside of not doing endorsements is, I can't just publish a list of famous users. People request that quite often. The only ones I can mention are those that publicly love Zebs, such as Hans Zimmer and Gareth Jones.

Good deal Urs! nice concept.

By the way we have quite a few Zebras at our College (thanks for accommodating us Urs). I recently helped design a tv commercial for the College and made sure there are a few shots showing Zebra in action.. ;)

Interesting topic :)

Maybe the conclusion is: most of these people are not that rich and not that famous ?

I mean, I remember that about 10 years ago I wanted to be a producer hehe, or a "star wannabe". Someone like hmm let's say Paul Van Dyk (Trance, well at least 10 years ago it was trance) - you know, playing "electronic" music for few thousands people having fun, drinking, meeting hot girls and earning serious money for that ;)

Some of my friends got signed and I remember that I was a little bit jealous about it :) and at the same time I knew that I was a little bit too lazy to be fully dedicated in music production (so I totally understood that they deserved it and I didnt). Now, by judging electronic (dance) music industry (i like to follow latest releases and overall still love music), and being aware how music indrusty has changed, I'm glad I was too lazy. Why ? Because the money they receive from DJing, releasing their tracks are very low. I'm starting to think that my casual job (Java / J2EE Developer in country where salary is much less than average EU salary) gives me better opportunity to buy some plugins than their music productions.

I may be wrong here but there must be a reason why producers release their tracks so often (hint: they sell like 100 copies of their newly released tune for 1 Euro ? ) and why they're asking for free NFR copy. Maybe they desperately need to improve their "studio", their "tools" required for work, but can't afford it ?

I mean, I don't try to defend them but maybe that's the explanation why you're getting spammed for NFR copies all the time :D

ps. Shame that you don't give Free NFR copy for those who visit you in Berlin. I would go :D :hihi: Who knows, maybe someone would even organize Group-Visit :D :hihi:

So, how do you think that 'regular non famous' people afford it then? If the guy down the street can pay $199 after saving for a month, then I'm sure that the signed DJ around the block can afford it too, even if the money made is not what it was 20 years ago.
The point is that Zebra is priced well for what it is, and many people, 'star' and 'non star', can afford it. These people are largely just being cheap because they feel that they are now 'someone' and deserve accolades...not because they are begging to improve their studios.

2 DNA: ...still no reason to such an advantage. Why all normal people should be "driven" by Darwins "bee good or die" rule and they dont? Just becouse they made it far for a moment? I still don't get reason why they feel right for such a endorsement. In my eyes, they just abuse Urs. Nothing more.

I also don't see a reason :)

Maybe these are the "star wannabe kidz" :)

Post

Well the reason why I haven't bought Zebra as of yet is because I haven't got the cash, but I decided to save up for it. That's why I compose patches with the demo to have handy once I get Zebra 2.5. "Saving for a rainy day". Oh and do you want me to get it faster? Check out and buy my albums. :)

I'd like to officially endorse Zebra as I am a legend in my own mind, you may now heap praise and adoration upon me :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:

Post

The reason i have not bought Zebra 2.5 is that i bought Zebra 2.0 beta :) (a very very long time ago!)

i did offer to promote Zebra with my music but instead Urs gave me a copy of Ace not to mention any of his products at all, ever?

:hihi:
