I'm actually even more confused now :wheee:

-IF you buy from presonus, you get a SN straight away yes/no?
-IF you buy from sweetwater, you get a SN sent by the rep. Or is it all retailers? (sweetwater does not have it in stock)

My guess is that if you make it a condition of the sale they'll do that. Sweetwater that is, when they actually have one.

Not necessarily 1-800-Buy-Gear where the person on the phone in India probably never met the high school kid in the warehouse in Nebraska. :hihi:

Why? What are you spending your money on-a 2 cent cardboard box or the value of the software? What is 'real' is using the software.

If you only want to look at a pretty cardboad box, I have a ton of them in my back garage!
I still buy CD's.

We'll leave it at that.

What's wrong with buying cd's

Doug B, did you do the full version yet?

Yeah, to me it's sad, I used to love shopping for cds and music dvds. :( I even love copying them over after a clean install

Nuthin'

There are downloadable alternatives out there though. Means that I don't have to get up and go to the store. Means that I don't have to spend money on shipping or gas. Usually cheaper than buying the actual disc too.

But I still buy 'em. I just prefer buying something that has a tangible presence, if the option is offered.

It's simply a better fit for me than other hosts, that's all. Cubase and Reaper are easily currently more powerful in many ways (no daw war comparisons necessary) but I much more enjoy working in, and am more productive in, Studio One.

The way it works fits me like a glove so some of the other stuff I occasionally miss from Cubase is much less important to me in the bigger picture. Studio One + Kontakt 4 (for me, YMMV, all opinions are valid) is fantastic.

It all comes down to personal comfort for me, not necessarily features.
nuff said. and perfect too.

Since I wrote the original question I got the studio deal, upgraded to pro and now I use it in preference to Cubase/Reaper/Sonar/Reason. Yes; it just flows.

Question

using Acon FX chainer,

is this vst only? ...no instruments??

when I choose a vsti instrument, it says something like, " there are no outputs for Kontakt, audio sound will be lost"

I can see the meters moving in the app but can't get sound... is there a setting I'm missing or tis fx chainer just not work with vSti's

Yes, just FX, no VSTi.
