Thought I'd share my first tune using it. Not the best production on the song its self but Stutter Edit helps.

Cool man! Hey, what host are you using and how did you set it?
Thanks! Host is FLS(beta 8.9) If you mean how to set up Stutter Edit,

Image-Line FL Studio
1. Go to The Mixer View.
2. Add Stutter Edit (VST) to the Effects section of your Master channel or any individual channel.
3. Open the plug-in Settings Menu (the gear icon) in the upper left hand corner of the Stutter Edit plug-in window.
4. In the MIDI box, choose any MIDI port that is not assigned to another device in fruity loops.
5. Now go to the menu (Channels | Add One ) and select MIDI Out.
6. Open the Channel Settings for the MIDI Out you just created and assign it's port to the same one you've chosen for Stutter Edit.
7. You can now trigger Gestures from steps or piano roll events on this new MIDI Out track, or with a MIDI controller routed through this channel. Enjoy!

And if you load the demo, when you run it, it will give you a dialogue to offer a help guide for some DAWs with screen shots.

Thanks again for the comment :)

Of course i doublechecked the license number and the challenge code.

Still waiting for an answer from izotopes support.
Does anybody have a clue?
Hi, J...have you heard from iZotope? If so, did they provide you with a solution? I'm experiencing the same issue. :(

With the amount of people that still stick to good old reliable cubase sx3, you would think they would manage a workaround to make it useable

it just seems strange for them to miss out on a big market, i'm not whizz kid but surely they could find a way to sort it out!!

sad, because i was well interested in this but i ain't now

I just downloaded the demo and glanced the manual.
First time I'm using any this kind of effect/instrument, therefore
I'd like to hear your opinion:

Is this more like a "random/live-dj" -type of effect which can give
us some nice results more or less accidentially, or is this a
"serious" product for creating pre-designed effects? E.g.how well
do you consciously trigger different Gestures to create a spesific effect
or how much this is just an experimental "press here and there and check
what do you get".

I don't say this experimental aspect may be interesting or useful,
but to me it looks that the trend of that making "music" nowdays is
more and triggering samples, putting randomly different effects and create mixes. This may be fun but I think we have to
define "composing" here differently than what the traditional meaning is.

Good question. The simple answer is: it depends on how you use it. What I do is program my own effects with it and put them in some kind of order (a lot of the included banks are very much press-a-key-and-be-surprised). That way, I can f.e. trigger an 1/8-glitch effect with varying filter and delay modulations across one octave of the keyboard in a way that makes sense musically. While I like and get inspired by randomness in music, SE can definitely be used in a systematic fashion.
I'm currently, among other things, supplying live beats for a band that does tightly arranged, no-frills songs, and I HAVE to know what I'm triggering, else they'll tear my head off for being too "experimental". I use SE for this, and they love it.

If you want SE to be predictable, program snaps that are not set to random in any way concerning the Buffer position and the quantization settings. If you want unpredictable madness use/program snaps with random settings.

Hi, I did not find the manual for Stutter Edit ?
Is there any ?

Post

I tried it & liked it a lot but while it is a very powerful glitch/stutter plugin, I still prefer to use trusty old Effectrix. Effectrix is just so easy to work with & everything is just there in your face, easy to understand & (never read the manual) follow whats going on.

I'm not saying its better than BTSE......well maybe it is for me. If Stutter Edit was closer to $100 I'd maybe think about buying it but then its not an effect I use a lot, although I do enjoy using Effectrix when I get round to it. If your really into Glitch fx then you probably think Stutter Edit is well worth the money.

So for ease of use I'll have to give a big shout out to Effectrix!

A very good summary. H.

Peevy2000,

I've been playing the demo and considering Stutter Edit. While it is FUN! I found it to be clunky and difficult to achieve specific tasks.

So (based on your recommendation) I downloaded the demo to "Effectrix". You're absolutely right. It took me 2 minutes to download it and achieve the exact effect I was looking for where as I have been tweaking SE for 45 minutes with the manual open.

Thanks!

Your welcome Curtis, glad to be of help to you. IMO Effectrix is pure glitching simplicity. I'm actually gonna have another wee play at it later :)

Well I had enough fun with it to pull the trigger while the introductory pricing is still in effect.

My first track to use it is here: http://lightsfadelow.com/track/cold

Stutter Edit made it really easy to make the rhythm track much more interesting and also spiced up the core pad occasionally too.

I think the track came out well.

Another brilliant track
