Receptor Won't Enable Crossover Mode

I've had this Receptor Pro 1 Ver C for two weeks now and I'm getting pretty frustrated. When it shipped it was in Crossover mode. After I downloaded Remote Receptor on my PC I discovered that the seller did not ship crossover cables with the unit. Instead he shipped straight ethernet. I went out to local stores and no one carry's crossover cables anymore so I ordered online and waited for delivery. Days pass and time fades away.... I remember yesterday that I have a fast ethernet switch in my garage from an old network... connect my Receptor and PC together, fire it up and... alas, no connection.
Today the crossover arrives... I rip open the package, connect both the Muse and PC together... in both the GUI and manual controls on the front panel I select Crossover several times... each time I press 'Yes' and each time it reverts back to Manual. I'm able to setup Auto DHCP as well... just not Crossover. I've read the minefield of this forum with technical issues but could not find and answer to this one.
BTW UniWire won't enable as well... everytime I select Enable Uniwrire it turns off.
I'm running Windows 7 on my PC... 32 bit, however that should effect the Receptor? They haven't even made a connection.
Grrrrrr. Tomorrow is my 2nd gig this has missed and I'm starting to get buyers remorse. I really can't miss a 3rd.

This may or may not help, but I regularly use both manual and crossover modes (manual at home with my LAN, crossover in rehearsals with a netbook), and I find that after selecting manual or crossover I need to reboot in order for the Receptor to establish itself on the network. In fact I may be mistaken but I think sometimes I have to do two reboots. Are you doing a reboot after changing this setting?
Don't get buyer's remorse, the Receptor is a wonderful machine once you learn its idiosyncrasies!

Thanks it did work. I had to reboot twice. I was able to enable Crossover mode, however running Receptor Remote it still isn't connecting with a PC.
I've tried both my Windows 7 machine and my Win XP laptop. It just keeps 'scanning for Recpetor'... I know, or at least I hope, that once I get this working it will be a useful piece of stage/studio gear. However at this point it isn't very plug and play and coming from a hardware background (Yamaha, Korg, Roland) I'm feeling a little out of my element. I apologize if I come across a bit frustrated. I've use the unit a total of 7 hours of which I've spent 6 hours trying to network it. This was a big leap (and a dent in finances) and I'm losing time just trying to connect this to the web to download plugins. I plan to spend most of Sunday trying to get this online, and I'm hoping then I'll be able to move forward with it.
I'm not even at the point of creating multi's yet because I need to build a library of instruments first. And to do that I'm assuming I need to get online?

Are you absolutely sure your crossover cable is really a crossover cable? I use a little crossover adaptor, which works great for me, using a normal ethernet cable:wheresgrant wrote:Thanks it did work. I had to reboot twice. Well, you don't strictly get the Receptor online, you get the Receptor talking to your PC, and then transfer plugins across (the Receptor gives you a network drive you can drop plugin installers into). So once you have your PC talking to your Receptor, you're good to go.wheresgrant wrote:I know, or at least I hope, that once I get this working it will be a useful piece of stage/studio gear. Regarding coming from hardware synths, that was my route too, and trust me, once you get your Receptor up and running properly you won't look back. I use my Korg Triton now purely as a MIDI controller for the Receptor these days...

A few notes about receptor networking that I think may help you:
1) if you can't get crossover mode to stick (ie: it keeps going to manual when you try to set it) it's an indication of a hardware connection problem. Either the Receptor's ethernet port, computers ethernet port, or cable is bad or just loose. Check for the green and amber lights next to Receptor's ethernet port connectors to see if the network is enabled.
2) Once crossover setup is working theres probably some network firewalls or filters you'll have to change in windows to allow Receptor's connection through. They are detailed in this knowledge base article: http://www.plugorama.com/kb.php?id=96

Also, I don't think you need to "Enable Uniwire" anymore - I think it just works. I'll see if I can find something official that says that, but that's what I remember reading someplace.

I'll verify that. Uniwire enables and disables automatically when the Uniwire plugin is loaded on your home computer's sequencer. If your just trying to use receptor remote to connect to the viewer or hard drive the Uniwire setting does not need to be changed.
