Wow, Howard, I'm loving this! When are you going to release it? I want to start using it!

Nice Urs! To be able to switch between the current GUI (which I like), and an ace like one (I also like!) would be superb! I also own ace, what drew me in was a combo of the killer sound (of course), and the GUI!

Now, when can we expect this to be released?
Somehow, I always felt that all U-He synths should share a common GUI base, and the ACE one could very well be the one. Makes zebra look more "real" to me.

Ah, sh... I thought it's the working GUI...Howard wrote:These are just sketches made with a simple graphic program, they cannot be "released". OTOH, Urs already mentioned that there will (eventually) be a new GUI for Zebra2, and it might look quite like one of these - we'll seezvenx wrote:...will you be releasing this even if it isn't the official GUI?

That's not wood, it's just brown.. It should be more like real wood! For the vintage feelingbmrzycki wrote:Howard wrote:Good compromise?![]()

(My only complaint are the arrows in the woodgrain edges, they're still way to hard to see)

Yep, there is a logic to that.whyterabbyt wrote:if the modules are colour coded, then those colours should also be used for the same modules within the grid.
OTOH, I find the modules in the grid easy to read at a glance. I'm not sure that colour coding would improve things for me.
And it would add to the box of chocolates aesthetic.
From an aesthetic POV I think that using so many colours is a problematic - the number of sufficiently distinctive colours required to represent each module makes achieving a harmonious, non-jarring look pretty difficult, if not impossible.

If there's an opportunity for it to be included, I'd agree with whyterabbyt on the color coded grid modules. Using the newly desaturated colors, I don't think it would create a "jarring" look at all. Overall, it'd be extremely useful for quickly identifying modules... or at least, I personally would find it easier.

Well the mock up only uses 6 colours. By my reckoning, giving each module in the synth and fx sections would need 20+ different colours.elxicano wrote:Using the newly desaturated colors, I don't think it would create a "jarring" look at all.
And, for me, the 6 colours in the mock up aren't what I'd call harmonious - considered on their own, the colours in the rhs of the grid are fine, same for the lhs, but all 6 together just don't quite gel.
Increasing the colours to 20 and, IMO, it will be difficult in the extreme to make an aesthetically balanced, cohesive whole.
That said, utility and ergonomics come first, so perhaps aesthetic considerations aren't all that important?
