Stutter Edit

Post

Confirmed: Stutter Edit will work on live audio being played into Cubase using input monitoring.

I tested this with 2 keyboards - a Roland (sound source) and a midi controller for triggering SE. Cubase was "scrolling" without any recorded audio clips.

However: This will take some planning / programming new user gestures for live playing. The SE gestures look at a predefined segment within it's buffer to stutter -- therefore you must play on this segment (the beat where the DAW is scrolling albeit without audio clips) to achieve the desired stutter. If it stutters a short segment from beat 2 and you desire the attack of your live audio (the pluck of a guitar, a certain word spoken, etc), you would have to play it exactly as the DAW is scrolling over beat 2.

This is a very preliminary observation, I may be missing something. I would think there could be a user defined gesture setup that would have very predictable / dependable results for on the fly improv playing live audio. What I'm envisioning is that you press the SE trigger (pedal or key midi note) simultaneously as you're playing the instrument / vocal sound you want stuttered. I'm confident with some programming of user gestures, this could be improved for this live audio input purpose.

Thanks for the info :)

Well, you can get the most predictable results using the grid setting: the smaller the values (i.e., 1/16, 1/32), the less predictable the stutter will be, because you'd have to be VERY precise in your playing. Set it to 1/2 or even 1 bar, and make the gesture a "Full gesture" to free up your hands (or feet, or other extraneous limb).
I've played two gigs using SE so far, and this worked out well for me.

Wanted to buy but it seems that the price is now up to 250 Dollar or 258 Euros.

Since I have to pay in euros i will have to pay 377 Dollars to get it.

Way too much. I would pay 150 Euros max. Now I will have to buy something else, probably going for Turnado.

:(
Finally!

Or ask at the Marketplace section if anyone is willing to sell.

Yes It's strange, everything @ Izotope seems to be $249.00 of late, like they got stuck in a comercial pricing version of stutter edit.

$$$125>>>>$$$175>$249.00>>>>$$$249.00 Ohh Know wait, that would be an interesting attempt at trying to reel custom in, by offering deals that change from month to month, can't be like NI or Ableton or the rest of the developers out there. Yeah right !! They Suck...

But I do love Izotope products. :hail:

After having checked my backlog of newsletters from from iZotope the price $149 was the introductory price for the first month which they prolonged about another month or so. The regular price was set to $249 at the same time so there shouldn't have been any confusion about this. Then what price the resellers chose to set was maybe different from iZotope's. Still, my best bet is to put up a thread at the Marketplace. I guess some people did buy it but haven't used it that much lately. I dunno. :)

.... in their shop with the different currency options.

On a different note, which glitchy FX compliment the features of dBlue Glitch the best?

If you access the page from germany and click the buy button, you get redirected to a german distributor's page where they want you to pay 258 euros.

About glitch - you might want to check out Turnado from Sugar Bytes.
