I am currently using MIDI CC messages to control different parameters in Zebra. I record a section playing keys, then go back and record knob movements to change the sound as the piece progresses. Nothing new here. The problem is after I have recorded knob movements, whenever I go back the the beggining of the piece, the settings are all in the same positions they were when the song ended. To fix this, everytime I start the piece, I have to go into Zebra and reload the presets to get back to the initial sound. If I have a handful of tracks with knob movements this gets to be a major pain.

I looked into sending Bank and Program change messages at the beginning, but Logic's Bank Select messages seem a little wierd, you need a MIDI instrument in the Environment. (I need the bank messages because I have multiple folders in the MIDI Programs directory for my Ableton Live sets.)

How are you guys doing this?
Using automation instead of CCs?

I realize this isn't a specific Zebra issue, but thought some here may be able to shed some light.

This is happens because the cc's are not reset to the original positions and zebra retains the final cc positions. i think this is the way most daws/synths work with cc. your method of inserting a program change message at the beginning of the song is a common solution for this. another is to extend or create a midi part and ramp all the used cc back to the original position.

I also realized I could freeze the track. I typically don't freeze, but it may be worth it in these cases.
