Here's a demo video of OP-X PRO-II hosted in Receptor 2, playing through some of its factory presets:

A guide for unsupported installation in Receptor 2 is available on this dedicated site:
http://www.sonicprojects.ch/opxpro2/musereceptor.html

Works very well in Receptor 2 :-)

...and here's the "famous" bank demo, including famous song patches from

Maybe you can guess the songs...

thank you :-)

Very nice Peter! This is one of my favorite VST.

Didn't know there was a Pink Floyd Dark Side of the moon sequence in the presets. I have to look this up!

:D

Post

Thanks :-) It's somewhere in the floyd section of the famous bank, called "floyd on the run" or similar

If you want the original EMS VCS-3/Synthi A step sequencer feel then you could switch the arpeggiator mode to "record" and enter the notes one by one as steps, and then start the sequence by quickly depressing and releasing the damper pedal

do you think it is pretty stable? I have just installed it and, very often, a switch between patches with the op-x pro 2 causes a mixer restart of the receptor.

Post

Pretty stable here.
I've never had an issue with the mixer restarting. OP-X is pretty cpu hungry on my Receptor 2 Standard though. I can only run 1 or 2 (less less demanding)plug ins along with it. It really does sound awesome!

I tried the demo version this weekend. Although the demo clip is very convincing, I was not too happy with the plugin on my Receptor 2 Pro. It crashed my Receptor twice. Worse, the CPU load usage was very high (it has high peaks). It cannot run on 32 samples latency for sure (I get clicks). This is without any other plugin active. On 128 samples latency it works ok (I am not sure about 64 samples), but all my other plugins run at 32 samples. Pity, cause the plugin has very interesting sounds!

The reboot of the mixer is caused by this issue:
rm-host: RouteStack.cpp::LoadInsert[1079]: assertion failed
Apr 1 21:13:30 Velociraptor rm-host: err:seh:raise_exception Unhandled exception code c0000005 flags 0 addr 0xc9c1984

Apr 1 21:13:34 Velociraptor rdm-session: rm-host stopped
Apr 1 21:13:34 Velociraptor rdm-session: starting rm-host

Any guys from Muse would explain this?
Thanks

I have this too sometimes (standard model), but never at startup (when an OP-X PRO-II multi ist the default startup patch), only when Receptor has to unload and load it again; I had the same too with Kontakt 4 sometimes (featuring big samples like Scarbee or NI Pianos), but it has gone after applying Z-Load which keeps the plugins in the RAM; unfortunately Z-Load does not work for unsupported plugins (that's why I still hope OP-X PRO-II will be officially supported one day)

I guess it has to do something with RAM management in some way, strange that some don't seem to have this and others do, no matter what Receptor model; but I'm no Muse technician and so can't say what's going on; I guess Z-Load would stop it (since the plugin remains in the memory then as long receptor is on)

Apart from this (once loaded) OP-X PRO-II is extremely reliable in Receptor 2 and works perfectly stable, also the loading of the receptorized banks and presets works like a charm (as you can see in the videos); of course OP-X PRO-II is more CPU hungry than OP-X PRO standard, but in no way comparable to other today's plugins like Jupiter-8v, PolyKB or ACE; compared to those it's rather light (at least on a PC)

Based on the video ~ I really like the sound of this VST!
Based on the subsequent feedback ~ it's not ready for professional performance applications.

Has anyone communicated with Muse, who have 'Receptorized' OP-X and OP-X Pro versions, when they might expect to work out these glitches with OP-X Pro II?

How about the total size of the OP-X Pro II library, can anyone tell me that?

Hi JayVee
The total size is about 1500 patches available in 32 banks; you can check them all out with the demo version (click on BANK:LOAD in the synth's browser to access the banks)

You can listen to some chosen presets of various banks here:
http://www.sonicprojects.ch/opxpro2/audioclips.html

The banks also are available converted to a receptor compatible import format (single fxps in folders) at the bottom of this page:
http://www.sonicprojects.ch/opxpro2/musereceptor.html

If you have a featured receptor with pre-installed OP-X PRO then you theoretically also should have access to all former OP-X PRO banks (since they share the same id); those and further banks too can be downloaded on the OP-X PRO-II sound reloas page:
http://www.sonicprojects.ch/opxpro2/userarea.html

Thank you ~ that's very cool, however, what I need to know is the 'GB' size.

I'm sold on the plug-in, it's a question of if I can put it on my Receptor.
I've just upgraded to an SSD drive, and it's currently packed with my existing libraries.

So ~ what's the total size, in GB, of the OP-X PRO-II?
