I doubt he's working on something new while Sylenth1 has been in beta for the past year. Wouldn't you release a final version of a minor update first?

Post

Well there are reasons. If he really works on 1.5, it would be waste of time to focus on that beta. But it could mean he has given up as well. But ... just silence. Painful silence. :help:

Yeah. I wrote him my story too. Few weeks ago. I didn't even ask in "do you do something" way but rather by "please give us hint of youre future" ... and no reply too. :-(

Post

In October right before I bought the synth I asked him this:

"Is there a plan to upgrade to 3.0 in the near future? If so, if I've already purchased 2.2, will I be able to expect a discount? Any idea of what discount you might give?"

His response was:

"All future updates on Sylenth1 are free of charge. If there will ever be a version 3.0, then it will be free for all registered customers. Don't expect a completely new/different synth in the future though, Sylenth1 will never break compatibility with its previous versions and users. There may be a few minor additional features of course."

I know this doesn't really answer your questions but it's kind of on the same topic.

Post

Still at least something. It seems to me Lennar don't exactly know what are the plans, so he's rather quiet.

The slow pace of development at LennarDigital is the main reason I'm buying Zebra2 instead of Sylenth1.

I know Sylenth1 is a great VST synth, but development pace is an important factor, I use an Access Virus Ti, and since Sylenth1 is very close to the sonic character of the Virus Ti, I think Zebra2 will be a better complement, although I wouldn't mind adding Sylenth1 as well, but I decided to wait until LennarDigital's latest beta version goes to a non-beta release.

It's been almost a year in beta  which is not a very good sign.

Sylenth does what it does - Great sounding, easy to use/tweak synth with a plethora of presets and third party soundbanks at a reasonable price. The fact that new soundbanks are still being created and (evidently) sold speaks for itself. Long beta or not, Sylenth is here for the long run.

Just buy it. Why worry so much? It's not even that expensive.
It works great, sounds great and does the job. Buying software because of expected or promised new features is never a good idea.

Sylenth is great

Why is a synth with loads of updates better than one that doesn't

if anything, updates usually mean it wasn't made properly in the first place :) (....cough... stylus rmx update ....)

with updates i never know whether to risk "mucking everything up for some odd new feature" (....cough rmx.. :))

as long as you still get technical support if somethings wrong then its all good.

plus people love to make banks for it - kind of third party support.

Sylenth is still pretty good, Lennard is cool, everything is jolly
circuit modeling and 0-dfb filters are cool

You're very right. But what does a year-long beta say about the business? Even if it is stable. To me it says that absoutely zero attention is being paid to it. While we can hope for those important minor features to come along like swing for the arp finally, there doesn't seem like much chance when he can't even be bothered to release a minor update which seems perfectly stable from a year long beta.

Well actually i have hanging pretty much amazing Kontakt 4 offer and pretty cool SynthMaster offer now. If I buy it, I'm gonna be out of market for months. It would be just cool to hear: Wait a moment, there is short-term plan, or go for it, all my plans are long-term. It's actually just a loyality to Lennar which keeps me in this state. Question is, whether is it worth it.
