My music machine doesn't run some very new synths - for example, Bazille, the updated Synth1, even the XMF and Vintage filters in Z2 cause clicking and an instant muting of the channel.
Because of this I haven't had the chance to demo ACE. However, I just tried it on my laptop, because I discovered Savihost, and I have to say... I haven't even scratched the surface of scratching the surface, because it's so fiddly to control a synth using just a finger pad, but just the quality of the filter and oscs blew me away.
I NEED to get a new computer for this thing. Seriously... Now I just have to work out the details... Like whether to go 64 bit, etc... (I'm actually terrible at setting up computers, I'm only good at using them, lol).

You definitely got a trouble with your computer 
I run an old dual core and i can put several instances of ACE without trouble.
Try the lowest quality setting in ACE, and lower your DAW audio setting to 44.1kHz (if not already).

It's not because it's not fast enough. I can make whole tracks on it (listen to my soundcloud page for examples . 99% of all synths run perfectly fine, it's just the odd newer ones.
I think it has something to do with a certain instruction which isn't supported by my chipset. Something like that, anyway. Before the latest update, Synth1 ran fine. Now it just mutes the track whenever I make an instance of it. This is also true for hypersynths' synths (for example, the Sidizer demo...). Bazille also does a similar thing (which is a horrible shame as I love it).
Either way, rather than trying to fix it, I am due a new music machine

You won't find a CPU that isn't 64-bit. The question is whether you want 64-bit software. The answer is yes! You want to have the option of more than 3GB memory in the future for all your software synths and plug-ins. And you want to take advantage of Win7's new abilities to give priority to your DAW so no other software will EVER interfere with your music, even on your main OS partition! No more separate partition for youe music, and greater productivity. Hardware will no longer be between you and your music.
