Hey Mr. Szabo, you released a JP Emulation without telling me! I already played around with it, sounds great! But, to be honest I'm a bit disappointed that it's just an emulation. I would have liked to see a stereo mode, 1-pole and 4-pole filter modes. Envelope shape control would also be nice. The oscillators have no pitch drift amount & speed control, so it can sound flangy at times. Wihout the oscillator drift, I can't see myself purchasing / using it. There also seems to be a lack of velocity controlled parameters such as envelope decay, filter amount, and of course amplitude.

I would gladly spend over $100 if your JP emulation was the HEART of a fully-featured synth. But, right now I feel it's only a heart.

I don't think of a supersaw as a supersaw. I think of it as an instrument that I can use in orchestral compositions alongside violins, cellos to fatten up their sound. I can blend supersaw pluck with string pizzicato or supersaw pad with string sustains. I can use a supersaw lead with a bass-section forte staccato to add extra bow-sawing harshness. In electronic music, I use supersaws to mimic strings when I don't want to use actual strings. I use supersaws to create explosions of sparkling melody. For me, a supersaw is an instrument all its own, a great tool for digital composers.

Oh, I shouldn't forget to mention...

Noise LFO Quirk:

-Create two instances of JP6K
-Add noise LFO to pitch to both JP6K with same/similar depth
-Result: Both JP6Ks flange against each other since the noise LFO on both are synced
-Speed should adjust the frequency cutoff of a Lowpass filter on the noise LFO so that the noise LFO is slewed / slowed down

EDIT: By the way, I would *love* to put my money where my mouth is to emulate my aforementioned feature requests if the demo didn't have the limitation of no host-parameter control.

Sorry for not letting separate people know, you can imagine how busy I was. I thought people who are interested are keeping an eye out for this thread.

About your comment, to me it sounds like you are talking about a different instrument. The JP didnt have 1 pole or 4 pole filters, it had 12 and 24 db ones, which mine has. On the JP as far as I know there was no drift, or any way to control it, so it was not part of my emulation, but it could certainly be part of a new update.
I did not make the oscillators stereo, because then I would have had to double the whole signal path, the filters, effects, everything, and it would cause the synth to be twice as cpu intensive which I didnt want.

4 pole == -24 dB/Oct

2 pole == -12 dB/Oct

Yes, I know :) but he mentioned 1 pole, which is -6db and the JP didnt have that.

Yeah it was just that you said it didn't have 4 pole either. Which of course it did. I just wanted to clear up that 4 pole and -24dB/oct are two ways of saying the same thing (you get -6dB/oct for each "pole").

Post

indeed i tried the demo very nice Adam. Good work :)

Post

Sorry people, sorry! 4 pole is 24db. I meant 8 pole. 1 2 4 and 8 would be nice on any synth. Anyway, I have spoken, I will speak no more! 8)

Post

just a quick question, does it only come with twenty presets?

Post

ATM, yes, however Mr CFA WILL MOST LIKELY HAVE A 32 preset bank added onto the current factory line up in a future updtate, and if (urrr, not if...when) I get my hands on it I'll most likely be doing a full bank for it :D

because of the exponential law of attenuation, and when put in series
they follow a simple linear subtraction -6-6-6-6=-24dB :P

I think you can compensate that by integrating Stereo Imager :)

Not really released :D They will be as factory addon in the next JP6K update so far as i know

I agree; storm in a teacup. Didn't realize he suddenly became the new forum police. Either way, no ban for me, I'm not the one getting worked up into a lather. :) Still, my suggestion stands; instead of making so much stuff that's protected under copyrights into your own, make it your own original thing. Or better yet, ask Roland for their permission to do such.

I also believe the OP should rework the interface so it's not a direct, literal copy of Roland's UI, or get permission to use their interface. Those who feel strongly about this should contact Roland to investigate possible remedies. This is my opinion, not legal advice. I have no legal standing whatsoever.

Yes, this. Everyone please stay on topic. The topic is the synth, not legalities of the UI. Further interpersonal kindergartenklopperei may lead to time-outs.
