NI just released a new version of Kontakt this week.
It looks like it has some performance benefits that i could benefit from.
I haven't had my Rec Pro very long but I understand upgrades aren't trivial, anyone at Muse tried 4.2.2? Whats the usual course of action? Wait for Muse to test i suppose?
Thanks

Yes, Muse supports Version 4.
I asked the recent release of 4.2.2 and they said this. I tried it and its been working fine for about a month.
Hey Matt,
It is not an official release from us, but if you want to give it a go here is how to install:
Go to NI and download kontakt 4.2.2 from them. Get the Windows installer.
This will download 2 files. Trash the one that says Factory content. That one causes more problems then fixes.
Then take the kontakt exe file and put it on the Receptor Hard Drive under "Drop installers here"
Now go to the Receptor viewer and go to the Setup page.
Click the button that says install 1 file.
This will launch the installer. Follow the instructions and finish the install.
Now In the setup page click the "Run utilities" button and select Refresh Plugins.
When it gets to the Komplete stuff it will say it found multible DLL files for some of the programs. Click DO not change UNTIL you see the ones for Kontakt. When you get here you want to select the one that is under the path c/program files/native instruments/vst plugins 32bit/kontakt4.dll
You will have to select that one 3 times. After that you should be good.
Thanks,
Gary

I'm playing it safe and staying with 3.5, even though I have bought 4.2.2. Hopefully one day it will be officially supported, but I'm not holding my breathRobipiano wrote:hi,

I have installed Kontakt 4.2.2. It did not overwrite my previous version (Kontakt 2.5). In fact, because I also had to install Kontakt 3 in order to properly authorize the Alicias Keys add-on library, I now appear to have 3 versions of Kontakt on my Receptor 2 HD.
I have not had the time to completely test 4.2.2, but it appears to work well. I have noticed some Receptor resets upon switching Receptorized Multi patches. It seems fine after the first time it happens. I'm not sure what that's about yet. The Kontakt 4 library (compared to K2) is much better and the load times are very quick.

The important thing to remember is they changed the file format in 4.2.2
Its now a more efficient binary file. What this means is that once you save a Multi/Instr in 4.2.2 you CANT open it in 4.2 or below. It also means that it loads faster, tho i haven't noticed much of a difference.

I have tried this update by following the above directions, and after running the 4.2.2 PC setup, I get an NI message saying it has failed: "FALSE". I click "finish", run the Refresh Plugins utility and I still have 4.1.3 as the current version. Am I missing something?
