Sounds great, thanks for the tip. I'll wait for the acoustic guitar library (current is nylon guitar). I have to agree with several other posters that Orange Tree Samples Evolution Acoustic Guitar - Steel Strings sounds far more realistic than the other steel string acoustic guitar libraries I've heard. Considering it will have the Evolution guitar chord strumming engine, it will be the only acoustic guitar library except Indignus, which is a much lower end product and significantly less detailed library (e.g., last I heard, it doesn't contain round robins), with a chord strumming engine. There are also some acoustic guitar libraries on the market that have loud buzzing in the lower octaves which makes them undesirable, imo.
Consequently, my pick (no pun intended) for an acoustic steel string guitar is Evolution Acoustic Guitar - Steel Strings and I recently heard some demos for an acoustic nylon guitar that I thought sounded excellent from a new developer on the scene, Ilya Efimov. While his acoustic guitar doesn't currently include a strumming engine and some posters have stated it is pretty complex to use, it sounded quite beautiful in the demos and very realistic to my ears.
An additional point. As guitar libraries have become much more sophisticated and realistic sounding, with lots of articulations and velocity layers, round robins and highly sophisticated scripting, I think usability/ease of use/workflow is more critical than ever. I think once RealGuitar came out with a strumming engine and then, more recently, since Evolution Electric Guitar came out with their strumming engine, a strumming engine is a must have feature for guitar libraries for me.
(FTR, I'm a customer of several guitar sample library developers and have given them marketing advice over the years, including Pettinhouse and Orange Tree Samples.)

My pick would have to be Pettinhouse, as Evolution does not qualify, as it hasn't been released yet. Even the Pettinhouse free version is awesome and easily one of the best guitars to get a realistic strumming sound out of without much effort.
After this thread, I bought the indiginus version and got a copy of the HE Audio steel.
Impressions:
Indiginus: OK, usable, strumming engine thing is kinda cool, but not many velocity layers and not really on the level of current production, as already noted by edrummist. Will probably sound good buried in a mix.
HE Audio steel: Does anyone here actually use the sound? The sound itself is not bad, but the response feels sluggish, implementation is dodgy (half the keyswitches are unused), chording is rudimentary, and it's a real ram hog. Perhaps someone can enlighten me as to what I'm doing wrong, or maybe everyone here is just going by demo's. Oh, and it's expensive for what it is.

The best one out of all I have is 6 String which is a DSP powered plugin for the Scope platform. But not cheap.

Let me rephrase my last statement. IMO Pettinhouse is currently the best sounding acoustic steel guitar with a low RAM overhead.
Evolution with 6 gigs worth of samples will take some room in K4. Can anybody here give RAM usage on Kontakt for this new guitar?

Spicy guitar... not even close if your looking for an acoustic sound. Ok for like synthetic guitar. Go to Pettinhouse's site, download the free version of the steel string, and maybe Kontakt free(30 min limit at a time) and try it for yourself.
Independence free as mentioned before also has a decent sounding free guitar.

I have been using the beta for some time now, and I can assure you that Orange Tree Samples Evolution Acoustic Guitar is on a completely new level of 'sampled' guitars - ultra realistic, and the playability is brilliant. The strumming is also sounding fantastic and 'alive', and you can control a lot of nuances of the guitar. It's not only simply 'sampled' though, as it uses some clever scripting and forms of behavioral 'player modeling' (don't know the proper word for this). Actually, it simply sounds real - like a real guitarist playing a real guitar.
Btw, I am a paying customer, not an official OT beta user. Greg was so kind to let me use the beta for a project in advance. I bought the full product the minute it was released....
Pettinhouse is also a great sounding product. The guitar has a lot of character. It doesn't offer the advanced scripting of the OT product, but it's still very usable and nice. If you can afford it, buy both of them - you can never have too much variation when it comes to guitars...
