V-Machine

Newbie here - I've been having problems getting the VFX app to work (which I will revisit later), so I just bypassed that and put some vst's on a 2 GB thumb drive.
This worked for some, but not all of those said to be compatible.
But here's my main issue: I play the V-machine for awhile, and it works fine for a few minutes, until eventually the sustain pedal starts to hang (some notes sustain even after sustain pedal released) and then after a few more minutes, ALL sound stops.
Reloading patches and panic do not help, but powering off the unit does.
I think I have the latest firmware installed as I responded to the prompt to do so when I initally had the VFX working.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
thx
David

You need to use the VFX software to import plugins using wizard files, otherwise they may not be on the USB stick correctly and may stop working due to a demo timeout for example. Fix the VFX software problem first by contacting VFX support then start looking at other problems as they may all be caused by not importing with a wizard file.

Thanks for your replies. I think it was a problem with the midi signal, not the V machine, as I was triggering it via a midi Aux Out on my Ocean Beach drawbars without the OB's optional AC power. Running the V machine direct from the C1 or with another controller seems to have eliminated the problem, and I suspect using the OB's wallwart will as well.
Now onto the VFX...

more likely 3 years... I remember it was released at messe 2008Vstream wrote:I was one of the early adopters and send mine back after 1 month. I'm glad I did! It could have been a superb product. Without the CPU upgrade the Vmachine is useless. VFX Software still remains beta after 2 years. When was the Vmachine released? 2 years ago?
Give me one company who is doing worse!
Sm Pro claims cakewalk rapture is Vmachine compatible but you cannot load it's "presets"!!! It crashes!!!!
(The always honest company Sm pro mentions this in it's readme file...)
Sorry, SM Pro. Be honest to your customers and tell them the CPU upgrade is never going to happen.

As always ... all your words are lies. Empty promises.VFXAU wrote: We changed focus to get the software right first and then expand the hardware side.
We made the hardware boards, but did not go into mass manufacturing as yet until software is done.
A year ago (or so), you told us that the CPU expansion was in production (500 units by march 2010). In fact, you told us that the expansion was used in the Messe (or another equal), with great results.
And now you are saying that software is first?????? That production never exists or what???? Excuses, lies, etc.
3 years since you are selling this V-machine and it still is faulty of work power. It works poor to use more than one pluggin on it (in many cases it can't manage a single pluggin!) ... and you are saying that the software is first????
As I can see, its useless to work in the software if the machine has not power to manage more than one slot of the four it supose to support.
The CPU upgrade should be the first priority ... don you see????
SM PRO AUDIO is the worst company I was dealing to.
Now I can speak in "past", because I was lucky to sold my V-machine by 230€. It's a shame that I can't keep a machine witch I like his concept (but has a very very poor power to work).
Of course, I have no doubt I'll talk the worst as I can about the V-machine and SM PRO AUDIO in forums ... not because I'm ungry about all this dark things around you and your machine ... Just because you deserve it.
My best wishes to all the users that has to suffer the impunity of this company and his buggie machine ( B-machine ... thats the real name! )

i use mine when i mix live , i have 2 seperate channels of gsnap autotune so i can process 2 singers at once along with de-essing, verb and echo, and limiter and its been good for that.
i couldnt help noticing you mentioned buggy and he did after all say they are focusing on the software.
but before laying into v-machine i cant help but focus on how there arent any other boxes doing this stuff, it cant be very easy putting one together or thered be a bunch by now so v-machine kinda wins by default for small hardware vst players.
its a lot cooler to have a laptop onstage now than it was 5 years ago so maybe the pressure to build things like v-machine has gone away.
yah id love a cpu upgrade but i bought it for what i was pretty sure it could do and it does.

Taken from the SM Pro website. As always ... all your words are lies. Empty promises.
Multiple plugins can be pre-loaded into bank/preset memories for immediate access. Combine VST and VSTi plugins into chains, splits, and layers to create extremely rich and unique sounds.
It even gets funnier.

Still, it's an interesting thing. I heard Synthmaker plugins don't work, that's no good as I only use my homemade plugins.
They could make/start selling the V-Rack, have more money in pocket, hire people to do the rest. Maybe not, but it was fun writing that sentence.

I just sold my v-machine since my new Nord Stage 2 is able to play samples. Hats off for the poor guys over at SMPro Audio who probably have struggled with not enough resources to make this thing useful in a way I feel I was promised when I bought it. When it comes to SMPro Audio management and their concern for customers... well, no thanks and f__k you.

Glad I've[ been reading this thread. The V Machines appealed to me not for the CPU saving side of things more over I want to get some plugins into a tangiable box that I can use away from the PC minus mouse etc but still integrate into the DAW if need be.
I did wonder how these units are compatible with so many plugins bearing in mind OS etc, in my case Windows based VSTs.
Think I will hold of until someone releases something stable, unless I am missing something?
I am guessing I still have to wait then

If you want to know about compatability and any known issues with a plugin, then just visit this link and place the mouse over the orange 'i' icon to see the info.MFXxx wrote:I did wonder how these units are compatible with so many plugins bearing in mind OS etc, in my case Windows based VSTs.

Compatability is being improved all the time, so the report from a previous user having stability issues for 1 single plugin, I know this has long since been adressed.
Stability is excellent 99% of the time and any issues are noted and available for you to see. CPU power is something you need to work within the limits and have a realistic expectation. If a plugin states it requires a 3ghz CPU then of course it wont run too well on a 1ghz compact value for money unit. Future products to expand the range are planned.
The test results are all up for any person to look through at the link above, so you can make your own mind up as to if the V-Machine is right for you.
Alternatively you can download and try the VFX software out for free by downloading it from here.

Matthew - I'm just watching the plugin list, and it says "no performance issues" for all Elektrostudio plugins. You know that is not the case, since there's that glitching noise bug that happens in course of one minute upon switching a preset on a loaded Elektrostudio synth. This is very much quite a big performance issue (even though otherwise all Elektrostudio plugins play well, but it's not nice having glitching noise in the middle of a live synth lead solo!) as I see it. I presume that one is still not fixed?
Please refresh that page with correct info that Elektrostudio plugins may exhibit glitching noise for unknown reasons, until you squash the bug (if that ever happens)...
