Hi,
Maybe someone can help me. I've got my Receptor Pro (1.0) connected via ethernet to my MacBook Pro which in turn is connected through Apple Talk to my Wi-Fi network. I've turned Internet sharing on to allow computers connected to the MacBook to use it's internet connection but alas, the receptor is not connecting.
Any ideas?

I don't have the same setup (I use a network switch), but according to the manual it looks like you need to make sure you are connecting the Receptor to your laptop with a crossover cable, not a "straight" ethernet cable, then select the Crossover option on the GUI setup page.

The Receptor is talking to the MacBook just fine (well, it was when I wrote the original post.... long story...) I'm just not sure if the Receptor is connecting to the internet.
Is there any tips on how to check if it's connected?
I've nevwer actually had it connected to the net in 4 years but I'm finally get around to updating my NI Komplete suite.

Hi dizz,
Well, I don't think the Receptor itself actually is intended to connect directly to the internet, it's your laptop that will do that work. I don't have Komplete on Receptor, so can't advise you on the specific update process, but whether it's via Direct Install or some other method, I believe your laptop will receive the update and pass the data to your Receptor. Sorry I can't offer more helpful information!

There's a pdf guide to upgrading NI software through direct install on the plugorama site that says you need to make sure the computer and the rceptor are both connected to the internet. I actually found that after my initial post, I followed the instructions to a T but they didn't follow me. At some point, the NI Service centre is supposed launch which just hung my receptor and now I can't get see the receptor through my MacBook but to be fair, it was late and I went to bed rather than get caught up with it so I'll give it another go tonight when I get home.
I suspect it crashed because it wasn't connected to the internet but I can't think of a way to test it. It's such a simple thing usually but not with the Receptor.

I guess if you're following the DI procedure and it's not working, you should probably open a support ticket at Plugorama.
One other thing. You might want to check that the Direct Install is applicable to the specific Komplete version update you are trying to install. E.g., 4.2.2.1 or whatever. (I made up that number....) I've had trouble in the past on something like that - though that might have been on the initial load of some software, not for an update. Anyway, just a thought.

If you see a (valid) network address in SETUP / TCP/IP address (depending on your router, it will either be 10.1.X.Y or 192.168.X.Y most likely) the you have a successful connection to the network.
However, Receptor is an instrument first and foremost, so it doesn't have a browser, so you can't really use it to talk to the Internet. however it will talk to the Internet using Service Center in later versions of System software from NI, but typically if you need to update a plugin on the unit, you will use either the "Drop installers here" method when it is a downloadable file off of Plugorama, or you'll use the Direct Install utility to do the install if it is disc based.
Although it is hard to tell from your post, it sounds like you want to install something like Komplete 6 or 7 after having Komplete 2 or 3, is that right?
If so, make a nice cup of coffee, connect the Receptor to your Mac, and click on the Direct install button on the Receptor Remote to do the install..

It's gone horribly wrong. On the first attempt to install an update to FM8, following the directions from Plugorama to a 'T', the NI Service centre tried to launch, crashed the Receptor and now I can't get the Receptor to boot up at all. I keep getting a Startup Failure, followed by Recovery Mode followed by Startup Failure.
I have shows to do and no Receptor.
