A u-he Music Contest?

There's a possibility that in June we may take a short break from the monthly patch contests and instead run a one-off u-he music comp.
No precise details yet other than that entrants would submit one piece of their own original music made using only u-he plugins. Not sure whether to make it a free choice of any u-he software, or restrict it to Zebra (and bundled plugins). And there would be some logistical details to sort out regarding the method by which we share the music.
Would there be much interest in the idea? Does anybody have any further thoughts or suggestions?

There's also Tyrell and some other free u-he stuff kicking around, so you wouldn't be limited to ACE.
btw if you like competitions we're running a Tyrell patch contest - see the stickies above.

I'd might try this if the contest really happen. I am sure that we would see some really different tracks from different genres coming out of this. wouldn't it make it hard to find a winner ?! it might become more of a popularity contest.
so I think it can become a great idea, maybe it needs some specific rules... ??

I'm not quite sure what you mean by popularity contest - that people would vote for their favourite forum members rather than their favourite track? I suppose that we could have anonymous submissions as we do with the patch contests. I'm really not convinced that it would be necessary, but if the majority think it a good idea I'll go along with it.arbee wrote:I am sure that we would see some really different tracks from different genres coming out of this. wouldn't it make it hard to find a winner ?! it might become more of a popularity contest.
Anyhow, talking of majorities, I'd really like to see a few more people (another dozen or so) expressing an interest before getting involved in the precise details.

Check out how this kind of thing is done with the One Synth Challenges in the Instrument forum.

I would participate. A music contest would be a great way to explore the musical possibilities offered by Urs's products.

Ok, I would try my very best, too.
Rules should be similar to the One Synth Challenge. EQing is essential as well as a compressor/limiter for mastering.
Zebra (and so Zebralette or ZebraCM) have more than enough built-in effects. But with Tyrell external FX-plugs should be allowed.
(While writing this the accumulators of my wireless keyboard ran flat. Glad I've found a raunchy PS/2 keyboard in the attic. Next shop is 10 miles away. MMMH, yummie dust-nicotine-coffee-and-something-I-cannot-recognize-finish.)

Good to see a few more folk on board.
The only exception might be to allow some very subtle use of compression/limiting but only for mastering purposes.
With regard to those who don't have any u-he payware: 1. it is possible to make music without effects plugins and 2. what do they expect for free - cheapskates!
I disagree. I like the way OSCs are done, but as this is would be a u-he contest I think that everything really ought to be just u-he - synths and effects.pocvecem wrote:Rules should be similar to the One Synth Challenge. EQing is essential as well as a compressor/limiter for mastering.
