I fully agree about not accepting sampled drums. only u-he stuff ! actually, I've alreay done ambient track using only u-he products as sound sources and fx...

That said, building a u-he sampled drum kit would save cpu cycles that might otherwise be wasted running a separate instance of a synth for each and every last percussion hit.
So perhaps, sampling drums from u-he synths might be allowed, provided that the samples are not in any way further modified in the sampler - same pitch and length, dynamics, no filtering etc.

.... but, if I play a drum line with intenses of zebra and render is to an audio file. I can always change the pitch and filter it using UHBIK !!!.... right ?! that seems to be fair and within the rules

I think thats OK as long as all soundsources and all effects are U-He productsarbee wrote:you're right...hakey wrote:That said, building a u-he sampled drum kit would save cpu cycles that might otherwise be wasted running a separate instance of a synth for each and every last percussion hit.

lol nice bronto. I've actually started a track yesterday, think this contest might become some good good fun.
I don't remember and don't feel like reading the whole thread once again but... does anyone talked about timing yet ? starting date ? deadline ?

Originally the idea was to do hold the contest in June instead of having a patch contest and this thread was really meant as a discussion about whether that would be of interest to enough people to make it worthwhile.
I then decided against a June contest as it would have been a bit soon after the Tyrell OSC and because V'ger generously offered the use of the OSC stickies and website at a future date.
I don't want to pour cold water on those that have already got going, but bear in mind that nothing has been finalised yet - that includes the rules, the date for submissions, how we distribute music, whether to take V'ger up on the OSC offer etc. - it's all subject to change or it might not even happen at all...
I'd also prefer to hear what Urs thinks about all this and if he has any suggestions, before making it official.
