Here it is... It's just a quick sketch, it sucks, I know :D
BTW: the top bar should be darker, or with a different color in order to look like a separate bar. The menu items should look all like buttons, with the current page button in evidence.

Thx for the mockup, it clearly says what you mean!

pljones, is this also the same thing as you indicated?
I.e. making the menu buttons more explicit/buttonized?

I compared with many other sites and flat-style menus are used often.
I think they feel more open, relaxed.

What do others feel about this?

Is the player freeware? It does the job.
Yes: Audio player: Copyright (c) 2008 Martin Laine - wpaudioplayer.com :)

Essentially, yes - more of a visual cue to the user that there's some partitioning and a UI component to click. I was thinking of the next level down, where you've now expanded the number of items (which does help). Here I demonstrate my excellent artistic ability ;):

I like tabs myself but I know they're not particularly fashionable.

Oh, and the Bio & Refs is now very nice! (I shall never forgive M-Audio - that's two great things they wrecked now: Evolution and Muzys! ;))

Some mockups:

http://www.mutools.com/temp1428

p1 = current style
p2 = all menu options are buttonized
p3 = only the sub-menus are buttonized

Personally i doubt about p2, isn't that too busy?
I like the relaxedness of p1, but i can understand there is some obviousness missing about the sub-menus. P3 is ok for me, i can agree it's more obvious hence more user-friendly. And the difference in button style between top menu and sub-menu is not a problem i think.

What do u think?

Post

Yeah, I didn't have problem with the top row for some reason. Perhaps you just get used to there being one row of stuff to pick but need that extra clue for the second row, or something. P3 works for me - I like the subtlety of the buttons, but it does feel to busy in P2.

Post

Not bad, I like p3. But something is still missing in the top bar... I don't know... maybe the fact that the active page has a button appearance gives a sense of emptiness to the rest of the top bar.

I agree that p2 is too busy.

LOOKS REALLY GOOD... AND IM EXCITED ABOUT MU-DRUM.

Preview site has been updated, now uses more buttonized sub-menus, also finetuned mulab download page, and some other detailed tunings.

Post

Yep, works for me now - just enough of a hint without being cluttered.

it means that your website is "flat" there is no depth in it
Indeed the buttons need some depth.. like real 3 d buttons

And the homepage must open with your products.. be commercial

huh? what do you mean?
The webpage says januari.
I can only find 'januari's at the bottom of the News section, where they're correct. Do you see something wrong somewhere?
Sorry about this, finally i realize what you mean Januari must be January, i didn't notice the i/y thing before  Thanks!

I like the design! :tu:

Only thing that I don't like is the brown-redish background color.. I think it doesn't go well with the rest.

Have you considered or tried a different background color? Maybe black?

Post

The site is very good and easy to navigate ;i am just agree that the background is not so nice the old one looked more clean for me.
And i am patient for the upcoming mudrum stuff because at the moment i enjoy mulab :) in it's state.I use it more and more often.Ext is now on a cd and i didn't open it since one year now :)
ps:
It's really good to choose the midi channel when i insert Samplelord thx for this!

Yes, tried that but it looked too black/dark, imho.
I also tried a less saturated color (i.e. more gray-ish) but then the whole site lacks some sweet coloring.

Most reactions i get (also emailed other people about this) say it's a nice color scheme. At the same time, some people don't like the background that much. I guess that's the typical 'tastes and colors' aspect..?
