The whole 'analog summing emulation' debate is funny because all those plugins just add saturation and a bit of EQ, maybe some crosstalk... that's your analog summing device in digital form.
It can be done with almost any saturation plugin but usually it needs some inconvenient tricks, so good emulation is easy to use, instantly good sounding, has some extra features and a nice GUI.
I have to say that Satson is really good on all those counts, have to test it more..

Since there's no demo yet, are there any audio demos anywhere ?
Is this thing comparable with Bootsie Nasty VCS ?

I agree. Don't forget tiny bit of dynamic touch they (console emus) add. I do believe that one can achieve similar effect with already available tools but with less convenient way.sonicpowa wrote:The whole 'analog summing emulation' debate is funny because all those plugins just add saturation and a bit of EQ, maybe some crosstalk... that's your analog summing device in digital form.

Ah i figured you were a teammember but i'm mistaken.b-pole wrote:why should I know this?Any insight into how many plugins Diego sold already?
I have read through a few threads at the Sonimus forum, with my very marginal spanish capabilities, and one thread discussed his choice to charge for this plugin. I thought maybe some insiders would know about the sales.

The point is not that you can do similar things with a combination of other plug-ins, tweaking and such stuff. The goal is to have a working plug-in out-of-the-box, doing all this stuff internally. This plug-ins trying also to re-create a bit of this "signature" sound, engineers often like with some of this console types. Not all consoles will have the same harmonics so you cannot recreate this with a simple saturation plug-in.
Analog summing _is_ the adding of non-linearities, noise, crosstalk between channels to the "clean" digital audio. But on the other side, not all can tell a difference and so it's for many only a subtle effect where it makes no sense to invest a lot of money in such hardware/plug-ins.

He'd probably get slapped with a lawsuit from Image-Line.aircargo wrote:Speaking of catchy things, with a company named Sonimus, I think that Diego should release a Limiter called Maximus. Sonimus Maximus just has a good ring to it, like a Greek Emperor.

VCC doesn't do internal routing. There are 8 groups but that is just for linking knobs and settings, not for any internal summing.zeep wrote:Here's hoping that Diego's next project is a Buss Compressor. I have a feeling it will kick ass, like his other plugins.
Back OT, Some questions.
Can somebody explain to me (again) why Satson's Channel plugins don't stream audio internally to the Buss plugin? I understand that it works fine now (normal DAW routing), but shouldn't a console emulation emulate the complete path from gainstage to buss? Does the VCC do that or does it also leave the audio routing over to the DAW?
I don't mean to say that such is the only-, or best way to emulate it but somehow i was under the impression that console emulating ment plugins takeing over the audiostream from Channel to Bus.
