So we have more than enough ideas to go on but no sign of a consensus developing...

Anybody have any strong likes/dislikes?

I think there are lot of good ideas here but as i have suggested an FM contest in the past that is the one i would choose this time.

I also really like the drum kit thing.. :D

+1 for the drum kit :)

Re the drum kit idea: I strongly suspect that that would attract very low levels of participation. It's difficult enough trying to persuade people to make just one patch, never mind eight!

That's right. Your brain always thinks 2 steps further than mine :hihi:

Not sure about that! :hihi:

I'm just focused on trying to get a reasonable turnout for each contest, without which it doesn't seem worthwhile me putting the effort in.

My own personally choice for this contest - ie the one for which I'd most enjoy making patches - would be the 'Vocal' theme. But I have a feeling that probably won't pull in the punters either... :(

My preference would be vocal/voice theme :)

I take it there's not much enthusiasm for any of the suggestions? :?

So far we have 3 votes for Drum Kit (3ee, Bronto & Exhile), 3 (pocvecem, Resonator & myself) for Voice and 1 for FM (Exhile).

That's not much to go on. If anyone has an preference please say so, likewise if there's more than one that you like the look of. Otherwise it'll be down to me to make the decision and, from experience, that's not necessarily a good idea.

The DRUM KIT idea could be restricted to one patch (forces participants to make the most out of limitations).

FM synthesis only - No filters allowed!

Could be a real challenge.
I would like this challenge too

but whats about the osc fx?
sound is vibration, vibration is life

yep,
four different sounds can be in one patch with the key -> Gain routing of the osc's
sound is vibration, vibration is life

Yes, I like that.

I guess the way to do it would be to restrict it to FMO's only.

So no one got any more to say on this. Oh well -
