I think there are lot of good ideas here but as i have suggested an FM contest in the past that is the one i would choose this time.

Re the drum kit idea: I strongly suspect that that would attract very low levels of participation. It's difficult enough trying to persuade people to make just one patch, never mind eight!

Not sure about that!Bronto Scorpio wrote:Your brain always thinks 2 steps further than mine
I'm just focused on trying to get a reasonable turnout for each contest, without which it doesn't seem worthwhile me putting the effort in.
My own personally choice for this contest - ie the one for which I'd most enjoy making patches - would be the 'Vocal' theme. But I have a feeling that probably won't pull in the punters either...

I take it there's not much enthusiasm for any of the suggestions?
So far we have 3 votes for Drum Kit (3ee, Bronto & Exhile), 3 (pocvecem, Resonator & myself) for Voice and 1 for FM (Exhile).
That's not much to go on. If anyone has an preference please say so, likewise if there's more than one that you like the look of. Otherwise it'll be down to me to make the decision and, from experience, that's not necessarily a good idea.

The DRUM KIT idea could be restricted to one patch (forces participants to make the most out of limitations).

four different sounds can be in one patch with the key -> Gain routing of the osc's
sound is vibration, vibration is life
