Picking Standard Waveforms in Zebra

First off... I LOVE Zebra, to me it's flexibility and sound quality are truly top shelf.

I have been using it for over a year now, and one thing I really want is a simple way to pick standard waveforms.(Am I alone on this? It's hard to criticize such an awesome synth!)

Yes I know you can draw them, and load OSCs, but I miss having a simple picker to move from Saw, Square, Triangle, and Sine.

Best regards,

Gino

With flexibility and power, sometimes comes a bit a complexity. Urs has really done a great job of making Z2 as simple to use as it is given its feature set.

The simplest way I've found to quickly setup certain waves:

Sine: Load an FMO, no FM amount, set to FM self. It's a pure sine wave and low on CPU. Perfect for sub bass.

Triangle, Saw, Square: Load an OSC, then load 'Tri-Saw-Pulse' from the factory oscillators. Pick Wave 1 for triangle, Wave 5 for saw, Wave 7 for square.

An easy way to make this workload much faster for you is to make your own init template. Set up OSC4 with the 'Tri-Saw-Pulse' wave And set FMO4 for sine. Then remove the modules from the grid and save the empy patch, just make sure "save only active modules" is set to off.

Now when you need a wave and you're working on your init patch, just flip to OSC4 at the bottom, copy wave, paste wave. Done. :)

I just have an init patch that has all four basic shapes (with morphs inbetween), which has been enormously helpful.

When we launch the new website we'll probably also launch a little update on Zebra. That one will come with an init patch by Howard, featuring various standard waveforms. It's also going to be the base for each of 50+ video tutorials we've produced 8)

This is just great! It's going to be Christmas in May (or June, or whenever the happy occasion arrives). And on top of that, the final Gold Master Premium De Luxe version of the manual from der Howard (yes?).

And in case you've all been too busy to notice, the world didn't actually end over the weekend, so we can happily go on being Zebraites. Much more fun contemplating waveforms than global destruction, don't you think?

(Sorry for going OT.)

Cheers,
