Indeed! I used the Jackal model for the clean parts in this clip.susiwong wrote:...goes to show how versatile these amps are!

Nice stereo split! Demonstrates how the amp model retains its definition and character, even as it's breaking up. I don't know exactly WHAT S-Gear is doing differently (compared to other sims) but...I can hear it AND feel itmorelia wrote:More of the same. 2 X The Duke.

Definitely, as long as you use a suitable pedal in front or a little pre/post EQ.PaulG wrote:Anybody vouch for these being good for heavier rock? Or 80's style hair metal - Dokken, Priest, etc?
The Stealer reacts about the same to ODs as a real JMP/JCM800 provided you have your gainstaging right, and you can treat the Jackal like you'd treat an SLO.
Use two slightly different cabs panned l/r for a stereo effect ...
Hopefully we'll see one or two really nice OD pedals in the future, again quality over quantity preferred.
I said it before, I'd kill for a Klon.

The "Overdrive" switch acts like an Overdrive pedal on the input.susiwong wrote:Definitely, as long as you use a suitable pedal in front or a little pre/post EQ.PaulG wrote:Anybody vouch for these being good for heavier rock? Or 80's style hair metal - Dokken, Priest, etc?

I'm one of those who never reads manuals but in this case I urge everybody to read it, there are very usefull tips in there:

Hey, thanks a lot.susiwong wrote:Hopefully we'll see one or two really nice OD pedals in the future, again quality over quantity preferred.
For now, though for an OD there's some good TS pedal sims...
TSS for a Tube Screamer
And the SimulAnalog has a Boss OD and Dist pedal emu.
I'm in very temporary living quarters where my stuff is in storage - can't even try the demo now.
I think I'm going to buy this anyway.
Thanks all,

Fully agreed about the manual !AndrewSimon wrote:The "Overdrive" switch acts like an Overdrive pedal on the input.

But wouldn't that "Overdrive" switch be the equivalent of using the FET input on a Dumble, adding a solid state boost before the 1st tube ?
A great sounding option, no doubt.
I'm talking about good ODs which are much more than a plain boost or a Boss pedal, they have character of their own, a few controls often not following the drive/out/treble stereotype, and magic happens when they are combined with the right, responsive amp.
S-Gear reacts very well to external hardware pedals, much like a real amp would with likes and dislikes of certain pedals, so I think there's big potential for future development.
Atm I'm simply very happy with what's already there in top quality, there's a lot of nuances to discover still.

Could you give a couple of examples?susiwong wrote:

I'm only familiar with the Boss OD, the TS, and the old MXR Dist +...
Unfortunately, there's no way to "try" the pedals you're talking about first, is there?
Thanks a lot,
- Paul
