Kirnu :)

You have a recommendation of Kirnu on the previous post page, in the top, hehe.

I never used an arpeggiator before, i always make my own arpeggios.
Maybe it's time to take a look.
Good Luck!

Oh yes, how did I miss that

But I can't get it to work, should it show up as an insert effect?

Kirnu as Midi controller in a MidiTrack, not as effect. Kirnu is not an audio arpegiator.

I made this quick tutorial for you. Just follow the numbers in the next list and in the image.
  • 1.- Put Kirnu Output Midi port channel 1
2.- Put the synth you want to be controlled via Midi (in this case i used DaHornet) Input midi port channel 1
So you have a link between them.
3.- Play chords or notes in Kirnu midi track in your DAW.
4.- The synth (controlled via Midi by Kirnu) should play sound now.

Just make the same in your DAW.
Good luck! :)

Thank you kindly sir for your very helpful tutorial, I will give it a go after work today.

Just another reminder to all not to alter the samples like pitch or envelopers etc after sampling, sampling is only meant to be a CPU saver and triggered so that it in no way would sound ANY different to what it would out of the synth.

Oh, i wanted to ask something before i start the song.
How to explain...
I'm not going to use a sampler like HighLife, because when i used it, sometimes consumes so much CPU. (Maybe i did something wrong)

What i want to do is this next:
  • 1.- I would make MIDI patterns with the VST synth (with no effects in the output)
2.- I would save into a wave loop. This is, a dry wave loop.
3.- I would delete the synth and save CPU.
4.- I would put a sampler channel in FL Studio and load those dry saved patterns in WAV or MP3.
5.- I would put effects in the output of those channel.
This would be the same if it would be the synth + effects. But in this case, without the VST synth consuming CPU.
This means i couldn't make synth automations reached this moment. I would need to make those automations before saving into a dry waveloop.
And this mean i would need to save the soundbanks if you request my project, so you can listen the sound i made with the synth.
I would do the double work, but i don't care.
Also i have no chance.

The sound of the loops would be the same if the VST were playing in real time.
I'm not going to change pitch and things like that, i really don't need it because i will make the whole patterns and beats. So i would play all notes in C5 in a sampler wave channel.

Can you understand me?
If needed i could make a little tutorial with images for better explanation.

So, is this ok?

Oh, also i'm about to share the new skin of CM JungList in the instrument forum for free. I will share it in some moments.
I had permission of Richard Hoffmann from Synapse Audio.

If I understand correctly that would be the same as bouncing and is the best and safest way to do it. Adding effects to those loops or parts can be done freely as you would if it was the synth.

But do you have to delete the synth after sampling/bouncing? Can't you just disable it or is that not an option in FL?

Yes, i think i could just let them there. Or use 'Smart disable' option or deactiving it.

I just was a bit worried about this, because when you use some VSTs (mostly effects) and you just let them there in "smart disable" mode, sometimes there are CPU spikes.

For example, this happens to me with Dblue Glitch. If you "deactive" it with 'smart disable' option, sometimes, for no reasons, CPU go high until you delete it or deactive it completelly (with bypass trick).

I don't know why happens, but i think it's for this CPU spikes at Pentium 4 article
And my equip is a Pentium 4, hehe.

But don't worry, i will try all i can do to let them there. I can manage it.
At least you confirmed to me that i can make the sampling the way i usually do it.

Thanks V'ger :)

Yes I've heard of this bug happening to dual and quad core system too so I guess it's the VST mostly. But this would of course only happen when the VST is still on and calculating, so maybe bypassing is the safest.

Hi Y'all,

I also want to paticpate in this challenge, its a great synth! Thanks to Urs!

I'm glad to see that using Samplers is allowed. Unfortunatly Highlife doesn't work on my system and because it crashes in cubase. So would it be okay to use Shortcircuit instead Highlife, if it has to be a Freewaresampler? (I'd prefer to you Poise as drumsampler, though I think this would break the rule.)

Is it ok to use the adsr settings of the Sampler?

BTW in the Song I started for this competition I experienced that the cpu usage is zero, when deactivating Tyrell. So I don't delete Tyrell and just deactivate it, so just in case I can tweak the Sounds.

And one last question are all genres Welcome?

About your last question, yes, all genres are welcome.
I can't say anything more about your other questions, because i don't know it.

Good luck. :)

Thats great and thanks, also good luck to you. :)

Hi Acronym

Yes since the rule update about sampling is already written without freeware sampler specified and we're well into the month, that can't be changed now so any sampler goes. (But from next comp that will be changed)

As for sampler ADSR, that's a no because you would get a different result than what the synth can do. It would be approximate, but it should be EXACTLY. Sampling is about saving CPU only, not to get creative.

Normal freeware effects after the sampler is of course allowed as it always was with the synth.
