is it somehow possible to tap tempo inside mulab?
i tried using two different third-party plugins for this (Soma TapTempo and Sonic Assault Tap!), but they can't update the tempo inside Mulab.

Not yet supported in MuLab itself.
A vst plugin can't update the host tempo, iirc.
I assume these plugins allow tapping and will give you the tempo as a number which you can copy-paste (eventually manually) into MuLab.
