you don't have to make trance on sylenth, but it does strike a different balance between CPU use and sound. also, it has much less modulation possibilities. i dont' t use it often since i have zebra and ace but it is by no means a bad synth and there are lots of soundsets for it from which i am sure i could learn a lot.

Urs, just a little question: I like the sounds of ACE, I'm willing to buy ACE, but I'm wondering of my PC setup is strong enough to play ACE in a decent way...

My setup: Windows XP SP3 - AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual 3800+ - Ram 2 GB -DAW = Reaper - Audiocard RME HDSP 9632

I think there is a demo..I think the best way to do is try it out and see for yourself.

There most certainly is a demo: http://www.acesynth.com/index.php?item=download. The only limitation is audible crackles now and then. Otherwise you can fully test any number of presets to see how your PC handles it.

althought i havent yet purchased ACE it really is the 2nd best sounding software synth i have ever heard after omnisphere,i mean its just incredible and for 69eur its a no brainer

The next update for ACE will include 64-bit versions and a bugfix in the Mapping Generator. This will happen soon... (weeks rather than months)

I have an idea for an alternative filter algorithm but that isn't set in stone yet.

I don't know if this was asked/answered but is the ACE oscillator and filter modeled after a real synth? If that's the case, then which synth/synths?

I don't know if this is specific enough, but here
is a section from the manual which talks about the
inspiration for ACE:
If you really feel the need to compare ACE with a classic modular synth (or three), think of it as a pimped-up ARP 2600 using modules from a Roland SH-7 with
(almost) the patching flexibility of an EMS VCS3 / Synthi A - but polyphonic. Just
like the ARP 2600, ACE is pre-patched so that it will work "out of the box", but all default connections can be overridden using patch cords. Roland's SH-7 includes - like ACE - a second filter and an extra envelope generator.

Nope, nothing specific. A lot of inspiration came from my Doepfer modular.

I went on a shopping spree for vintage Roland gear long after ACE was released, in hinsight of Diva, Zebra and Berlin Modular.

We are going to add "specific" to future updates
