"Lighting - Specular": 0 deg, 20%
or make it darker, copy the object, make the upper copy a little smaller, with lighter color and blur it.
Place a third copy over it, make it bigger, blur it max. and Alpha 40% or so.
The lighting trick worked well enough for me. I tried the layered trick but I couldn't quite get it to look right. It would get too hard to see the slider ticks beneath. I'll have to try experimenting more with that.

Thanks so much for advice.
You can also copy the tick-marks layer, give it the same animation mask as the red bars, and put it above all the layers for those, then tweak them to look right on top of the red bar.

Just because it appears that they are the same tick marks in the final image, doesn't mean that they can't actually be a different image. ;)

Also the inner shadow with the outer ring is probably overdone, as it makes it look as if the outer ring is as high as the knob itself.

But yeah, not bad at all. :)
I reduced the offset of the shadow and it's not as pronounced now. I wanted to make the knob look taller by offsetting the knob shadow more, but since it's just a circle, once it gets too far out it doesn't work anymore.

Any suggestions on how to make a longer shadow to make the knob look taller?
Yeah, export all layers below the knob as one image. Then export all knob layers as another image. Finally export a black circle that matches the knob size. Take all the stuff into image editing app such as GIMP, apply normal methods to turn the black circle into a long shadow (eg motion/gaussian blur, etc) and offset it to knob base as necessary (make sure the whole thing says within a frame though), and finally let GIMP (or whatever you use) save the final PNG.

You can also do plenty of other types of layer composition/processing not directly possible in knobman, if you just export subsets of layers as complete strips, and combine them in another application (and I noticed exporting 2D grids actually makes this a lot easier, even if I did it for texture size).

Alternatively, you can try directly in Knobman by making several diffuse black circles positioned to combine into a longer shadow, but I never had much success with that. YMMV.

Aha!!!

That solution seems so obvious now...

For long shadows I use a rectangle or a shape under the knob with black color, xx% alpha and blur.

I like it. It has a cleaner look to it.
I like seeing how you made the knob look dimensioned with the inside shadow turned to -90. That's a lot easier than using multiple rectangle shapes on top.

Thats really nice WOK. At first look I felt that's a winner! There are a few things on the knobs that could use a touch more fiddling but that is my personally opinion, overall it really nice work. Really good job :!: .

I appreciate any hints, as I am not a graphics artist (it's much easier to copy an existing look than do something from scratch) and I admire your works. Image

Yes, looks kind of fresh. :)
The shadows of the little small round black knobs on the left side seem to be a bit too much... The shadow do appear "higher" than the actual knob seem to be...

Or do i only mean it...?^^

You know... I'm not that expert.... ;)
