THE FIRST STEP OF THE GROUP BUY HAS BEEN REACHED !

We NEED your help to spread the word so that we can achieve the next step

So if we go on with that speed we will reach 300 sales next week...
This means you should hurry with v1.0 and the presets. :D

Ingo
Unfortunately no we wont. There is a Bell Curve for group buys, and in the first days you quickly reach the top of the bell. If the interest is then not sustained and spread, then ...

Hence why I asked people to make the maximum "noise" about the GB :)

So here is the Leads and ARPs demo :

As in the PADS only a single overall reverb, always the same, and the same Elephant limiter on the master bus. No Eq, no comps, just playing and mod wheel + aftertouch/

Synthix Leads and Arps

There are very simple leads, and ...... very complex ones. Hope you'll like them.

Now back to finish this Keys demo !

Just tried it out. Took it for a short drive. This is a wonderful synth - a must have. Everyone's presets are great. It was hard to make the original hardware sound bad. Let me check out the pricing.

So I had another short play today, I must say I really love the sound

Did a short noodle too based on my favourite preset by Lotuzia called Rubycon II,

Quick Synthix noodle

Don't take it too seriously, made it very quickly!
circuit modeling and 0-dfb filters are cool

Like promised above i tried to do a comparison between Synthix and PolyKb II. For that i used a Synth Brass preset inspired by "Oxygene 4" which i created with Synthix yesterday. I then tried to recreate this with PolyKB II while using the same controls where possible including the same values for the Delay FX.

As the Synthix has a "natural" stereo image i tried to replicate this with PolyKB II by switching on "Stereo" and using the DynaMYX.

Here are the two MP3's, both with the same MIDI data (again some "spontaneous" noodling...):

https://rapidshare.com/files/1315880721 ... Demo_1.mp3

https://rapidshare.com/files/2900326952 ... Demo_1.mp3

This uses one instance of the synth each and FXpansion Geist for drums. No external FXs were used.

UPDATE:
For comparison I tried to recreate the same sound with Sonicprojects OP-X Pro II and used the same MIDI data like in the other two songs:
https://rapidshare.com/files/2624561117 ... Demo_1.mp3

UPDATE:
The same sound/song reprogrammed with Way Out Ware TimewARP 2600 (one of my all time favorite synths...):
https://rapidshare.com/files/1428551936 ... Demo_1.mp3

AFAIK the original Synth Brass from "Oxygene 4" was done with an ARP 2600.

IMO the difference in the sound of those 4 synths is quite obvious, i tried to get the sound as close as possible. The main difference seem to be in the envelopes, the filter and even the oscillators but hear yourself. :)

Personally for this kind of sounds the Synthix just seems to be perfect, followed by the TimewARP 2600. In fact this comes close to the sound which i had in my head for quite a long time now.

Is Synthix also being developed for x64 Native?

I'm really tempted to give some bucks to xils, i've tried the demo and i'm really impressed by the sound quality, the not so heavy cpu use on a core2duo and the synthesis features.
I don't like some things about the UI but as it's a beta i can understand that they'll be probably fixed for the final release.

In the menatime that i do some maths with my finances...thumb up!

EX-CE-LLENT Penguin

Totally in the spirit :)

Did you notice that with aftertouch you can make the drone growl, whereas the modwheel is assigned to the sequence brilliance ?

Anyway great track

Hi Ingo,

Interesting work that I cant of course comment further because some other synths are involved.

Just to say that on the PolyKB the stereo scene is much wider, but mainly the stereo is redistributed thru each incoming note due to the choosen polyphony mode.

So the notes could have been more centered ( the small red points ) Another solution is just to assign KB tracking to Pan or stereo/.

This is why when the PolyKB plays the brass chords, their structure seems a little loose and erratic. Also the attack on the PolyKB is a bit more fast than on the Synthix example, though this is mostly noticeable when it plays the chords, and not the single notes, wich is also interesting in se./

But yes interesting example :tu:

Btw the Brass is not so far from JMJ Oxygen first lead ( when he goes to the 5th it more strings and I made a String patch wich is very close to this one on the Synthix ) But Oxygen was released years before Jarre ever heard of a thing named Synthex, so .... :)

Thanks Raikard to consider the Synthix as your possibly next instrument, and for your kind words on the sound quality.

Please , feel free to comment and develop on the UI. Yes its a RC, but comments might help us to make the 1.0 better.

We are always open to suggestions and remarks.

I noticed Synthix even reacts to polyphonic aftertouch! :)
Do all XILS Lab synths have this feature?
The more I hang around at KVR the less music I make.

Hi Laurent,

one of the goals of this test was to show that the Synthix and PolyKb II sound really different which some people didn't really believe it looks. I have tried quite long to get the sound in PolyKB II closer but besides some changes in the DynaMYX i could not get it really closer which means that this part of the "mission" was successful. :)
The comparison with other synths like e e.g. OP-X Pro II and TimewARP 2600 was obviously for me and would have done by others anyway i guess.

Anyway like already mentioned my personal result is that Synthix is just perfect for such Synth Brass sounds (and many others) like i already expected before i even used it for the first time!! I have programmed comparable sounds on almost any synth which i tested but this one is just great. Finally this is a synth that does it just in a way like i had it in my head for quite a while.

I wanted to clean up my virtual rig soon and i have a good feeling that with Synthix some of my other synths could be retired forever which maybe could include synths like e.g. OP-X Pro II, Poly-Ana', Arturia Jupiter 8V and Arturia Prophet V and some others !!
My main focus in the near future (or the rest of the year maybe) will be on Synthix, PolyKB II, the Waldorf synths (of course...), Synthmaster 2.5, Dune, Kontakt 4 and Curve.

AFAIK the Brass from Oxygen 4 was made with the ARP 2600 which is why i made the fourth demo based on TimewARP 2600. Even if this sounds great on it's own (and i love that synth...) i still think the Synthix sounds better. :tu:

Best wishes,
Ingo

Do all XILS Lab synths have this feature?
Hi Timfonie,

Yes.

For the PolyKB, when the switch "MOD WHEEL" is switch ON, the aftertouch is added (in polyphonic) to the mod-wheel (I felt for this synth, that Aftertouch was the same "musical gesture" than mod-wheel). So each patch using Mod weel through the legacy panel will get polyphonic aftertouch.
But the Aftertouch (polyphonic) can be patched independently though the additional modulation menus.

for the XILS3, it depends of the preset and how it patches it.

For the Synthix, the Aftertouch must be patched though the modulation menus.

On XILS-lab synths there are no really difference between Aftertouch and pressure. Simply, the latter is sending the same value to all the voices. So if your keyboard are managing the both, you should filter the pressure (which is monophonic)

Best regards
Xavier

Just bought Synthix, and having a quick flick through the presets I have to say
this thing sounds amazing!
Fat and lush are two words that come to mind.
