VOTING DEADLINE IS JULY 8 2011, 15:00 UTC

Voting rules:
  • For ZPC-15, the task for this contest is to somehow squeeze a drum kit into a single Zebra patch!
  • All votes are appreciated, and however one decides which patches stand out is the right way. A little feedback explaining votes is very welcome as well, just keep it short and to the point.
  • The presets have not been normalized and are presented to you as they were submitted. It's up to you, the voters, to decide if a preset appeals to you (clipping, too quiet, or just right).
  • Results will be tabulated one week from the date of this post when the poll stops running.
  • The preset awarded the most overall points wins. Best of luck to all the entrants!
Patch authors:
Please post your numbered voting selections as replies in this thread. Please no hinting or saying which preset(s) are yours. Let's keep it anonymous until voting is closed. As a patch author you must vote, and you are not allowed to vote for your own preset(s)!

Everyone else:
Anyone is welcome to vote and if you wish to do so, please post your (numbered) place selections from this set in this thread.

Point Value:
Points are awarded by voters in the following manner:
  1. 1st Place -> 3 points
  2. 2nd Place -> 2 points
  3. 3rd Place -> 1 points
Votes by patch authors and everyone else are weighed equally.

Results:
The winning patch author will receive their choice of 1 free u-he NFR (not for resale) software product. All patches submitted will be pubilically posted on the u-he Patch Library.

As always these are some great,great entries. I've had fun auditioning and programming patterns with all the different kits.
What's made the choice even tougher is that each patch has so many elements, and I like some of the individual drum sounds better than others.

1. Dub Kit + : Elegance and efficiency in sound design. It's got great sound and variety with so few modules.

2. Micro Machines : Buzzy, glitchy, and fun. This kit has a lot of character, which I like.

3. ZEBR_e_A_k : This is a really nice kit overall. It seems quite flexible/useable in a variety of types of tracks.

Cheers to all the entrants.

1. ZEBR_e_A_k (Good kick and snare and good tweakage, the toms I didn't care so much about but I liked this kit best as an all-rounder.)
2. TrumSet (A nice electronic kit also with good tweakage.)
3. fantapsy kit (Plenty of choices for lo-fi kits, but I liked the sound of this one on my test loop.)

I can't believe how much work I put into every single detail of my preset and now it doesn't have the slightest chance :cry: :hihi:

The courageous have spoken: drums are not easy, especially in ONE patch! My votes:

1. Dub Kit +
2. Angry Kit (MW + PB + AT)
3. Micro Machines

BTW, I really liked the wood blocks in murder drum kit :)

I didn't have much time for this ZPC, but I did try to do a single authentic sounding acoustic bass drum... I was using 4 channels of synthesis for it and it was going to take tons of fine tuning... Urs: might be time for some kind of resonant box model ;)

1 [3pts] Dub Kit+ - A lot of little quirks and subtle variations popped out at me with this one, so it had a lot of depth when playing

2 [2pts] Micro Machines - Very 'correct' sonically, and also a good range of sounds

3 [1pts] Hello Kitty - I think perhaps the potential of this one is a bit hidden, it sort of asks for a certain percussive style, and has creative sounds in that context

A bit harder to judge this one for the same reasons it was hard to make patches - it's really multiple sounds put together. Congrats to all for squeezing it all in, sometimes the limitations inspire as much as anything and there was a lot of that in this contest. There was something in every patch!
