OK, had the metering already
, but thought the equalizer and the rack would be worth it, especially as I had some 'Jam' points available. Set aside a coupon code for 7 points (ie. $8 total), then went into the purchase, only to find at the final step, jam points couldn't be applied. Couldn't find any place where that was mentioned in advance (or in the jam points Q&A). PO'ed. Since the points coupon now expire in a week, instead of costing $8, it has cost $22. Not happy.
-----
edit. Found the little asterisk and small italicized print at the very bottom of the sale indicating that jam points cannot be used on these weekly promos. Should be a whole lot more prominent. Otherwise you get the double surprise of no discount and throwing away jam points. Just a warning. Don't make the same mistake.

Below the BUY NOW button on the product page it says "Weekly Surprise Deals cannot be combined with other IK discounts or offers, such as the IK Anniversary promo code 15YEARS or JamPoints."rj0 wrote:OK, had the metering already, but thought the equalizer and the rack would be worth it, especially as I had some 'Jam' points available. Problem was that I went direct to the store. No such warning for the Buy Now button there.

Yes, I believe I would have.thecontrolcentre wrote:Would you not have bought it anyway, even if you'd known?rj0 wrote:Yup, I see it.

But I wouldn't have thrown away the jam points.
Thinking you're spending $8, and suddenly realizing it's costing you $22 is a bit of an unpleasant shock, any time.

Raise a Support Ticket at IK Multimedia. Explain what happened and they may well reinstate the JamPoints to your Account (possibly after the Promo Code that you have generated has expired).

Most important thing is for people to not make the same mistake I did.

Bleh, I can't use my T-racks Classic Compressor in the shell unless I update to the Authorization Manager version.
Which means I'll have to start my DAW as administrator every time just in case I reach for an IK Multimedia plugin.
I know IK started the Authorization Manager to try to make things easier. But it doesn't. Even if authorization was a pain before. You only had to do it once. Now EVERY time I start my DAW I have to right click, run as administrator, enter my password. Unnecessary pain in the ass, only required for IK Mulitmedia plugins.
Please change it back or change it so this ridiculous requirement isn't needed anymore.

Got the shell, mostly for the metering vst which I like a lot.
One disapointment is that I can't load my T-Racks V1 plugins in the shell. The clipper, classic compressor and multiband limiter are the same as the V3 versions with the exception that they have a smaller GUI. I don't want to spend money buying these again just for the new GUI.
Yesterday I got the Model 670 compressor on audiomidi (a sweet plugin) and I'm definitely interested in other T-Racks modules (opto compressor, etc..), but I will not buy the Clipper, Classic compressor or multiband limiter again, as I already own version 1 of these plugins, which are the same as the V3 plugins (I paid over $300 for these many years ago, Could have even been $400..).
IK Multimedia, please consider offering a cheap upgrade option to V1 users for those plugins they already own, so they can continue ordering plugins "a la carte" without having to upgrade to the full version of T-Racks. As is, the only way I can get the classic comp, clipper, and multiband limiter to work in the shell is by upgrading to the full V3 versions ($99 each or I have to crossgrade to the full version of T-Racks). I'm only interested in paying for the newer T-Racks plugins (Black, white, opto, etc..)
Thanks for listening

Another problem with the 'run as administrator' requirement created by IK's Authorization Manager. If you use Native Instruments plugins on a user account, your presets will not show up once you use 'run as administrator' to start your DAW. Only the presets in your adminstrator account will show up. I believe there is a workaround. Reset all your NI plugin databases to your administrator account, copy all your presets to that account, and save all your presets there in the future. Once it's done, maybe not a huge deal, but I don't know any plugins other than IK's that require you to change how you use another company's plugins.

Hey everyone, we'd like to thank you all for helping to make this surprise deal a success!
Stay on the lookout for more throughout the summer!

As far as I aware, there aren't any plans for that in the foreseeable future. But... The Black 76 and White 2A are not the end of the line...Teksonik wrote:Brian, will we ever be able to load CSR reverbs into the shell?![]()
