Turnado Improvement Suggestions

Sugar Bytes, if you're listening, Turnado is fanastic! Brilliant interface, and inspires too much creativity for me to handle. In a good way I mean.
But I do have three suggestions to improve Turnado even more. I perused the forums a bit and didn't see these. Sorry if they're repeats:
1. After moving Turnado to the background in Reaper, to tinker with other things, Turnado always defaults to the main screen when I bring it back to the foreground. I wish it returned the screen where I had left it (Dictator or Edit screens).
2. It would be great if hovering over the Dictator fader produced some kind of visual indication of just where the fader is located. I assume the range is 0-127. That way we can find exactly the sweet spot that we had before with ease. Better than a hovering help tip, it would be nice if that value displayed in a small counter nearby instead, to avoid visual interference.
3. It would also be great if each of the horizontal lines in the Dictator screened were pre-mapped to keys on the keyboard (or assignable). That way we could jump the fader to whichever setting we want directly, and can jump back to the bypass position at the bottom without cycling through everything between on the way down. (With my luck this is already possible. I admit I browsed the manual, but didn't *read* it. I was having too much fun using Turnado!)
I think these improvements would make Turando absolutely unbeatable, though I'm not sure it can be beat even as it is now). Give 'em some thought, please!

Amen to that. In love with it.PaulsAcademy wrote:Sugar Bytes, if you're listening, Turnado is fanastic! Brilliant interface, and inspires too much creativity for me to handle. In a good way I mean.
I've tried to confirm this but couldn't come up with the bug in the latest Reaper 4 beta when just putting another VSTi/FX in front of Turnado and pulling it to the front again. Are you running version 3.XX? What I can confirm is that closing the Turnado window and reopening it again does what you say above. Maybe that's what you tried to say?1. After moving Turnado to the background in Reaper, to tinker with other things, Turnado always defaults to the main screen when I bring it back to the foreground. Good idea. Add playing plain midi keys to control the jumping of the Dictator. And maybe some glide knob with the value setting the time of the glide for the Dictator.3. It would also be great if each of the horizontal lines in the Dictator screened were pre-mapped to keys on the keyboard (or assignable). That way we could jump the fader to whichever setting we want directly, and can jump back to the bypass position at the bottom without cycling through everything between on the way down.
I also want to reiterate a few of my own:
1. There's already the possibility through (Settings->Reset after load) to have the knobs reset to zero when changing presets. I would like this to work for the Random button too.
2. Since I'm using Native Instruments Kore I have programmed it to use the knobs to mute/unmute the FX just through touching the knobs. I would like to have a way to get all the FX set to muted when pressing the Random button so I can just add the FX one by one instead of having them to blast full forward.
3. this might be a bug otherwise see it as a feature request. When pressing the Random button the knob values are kept but the state of the mute buttons are reset to unmute. Which means all FX is turned on if I turned the knobs clockwise before.
And the last one
4. I would like Turnado to be able to mute the incoming signal when the knob values are set to 0 and/or all of the mute buttons are set to Mute. In that way I cut in some sounds spontaneously and decide when there should be any sound coming through Turnado and not.
If my explanations was too confusing please tell me and I'll try a bit harder.

Very good topic!!!!!!
More patterns, rhythms, or an editor would be fantastic. I wish I could choose other values/parameters other than the 0/64 fixed the dictator would be great!

@PaulsAcademy
requests put into our database
@jensa
i think 2+3 could both be solved if there would be a 'lock mute state' option, right ?
This way the mute states would be independent from random or preset load.
@plauto
i am not understanding what you mean. more patterns for which effect ?
What do you mean with 0/64 ?

@Jensa, I'm using the latest version of Reaper as of a month or so ago (sorry, that computer is at home). I *think* it's version 4. Yes, I think you've corrected stated the issue I have. When I say "background", I mean using the FX popup window in Reaper and choosing another synth or effect. Maybe that closes the Turnado window altogether. I thought it just moved it into the background. In any event, when I use the FX browser to select Turnado from the effects I've assigned, it jumps to the foreground always on the effects screen, rather than where I left it.
Another issue I have is the Learn function. The slider just to the left of the four over four 8 encoders on that controller are arranged exactly like Turnado! But the learn function only works about 10% of the times I try it, the fader usually (but not always) changes volume AND the Dictator value simultaneously (even if I've cleared it before assigning the fader). Also, even when the learn function works it is only temporary. At some point the Oxygen 8 controls just stop working with Turnado. I didn't mention this before because i expect some issue with my Reaper setup is responsible, rather than Turando. But I'd be interested to know if Learn works well for everyone else. I'll test it in Sonar tonight to narrow it down.

Every time Sugarbytes releases a plug in I think "Oh man, this seems really cool" and then they never quite click for me...
... until Turnado! I LOVE this thing. As a guitarist it was simple to get working with my Stealthpedal and in moments I was doing crazy glitch guitar like nobody's business. I also had it up and running with my Novation Remote via automap, but as a guitarist I find that kind of tweaking to be less than ideal. For me, the dictator mode rules, as advertised.

Yep, I guess so. If I understand myself correctly.Sugar Bytes wrote:@jensa

suggested improvements and bug fixes for turnado.
Bugs in need of fixing
- slicer - have it always stay in sync. At the moment if you set it to 1/32 then back again it generally isn't in time any more. This should be remedied.
- improve all units ability to stay in time with clock, there is noticeable drift if they are left cycling. Admittedly this is more present as a VST Ableton and i haven't got the most recent update, but this worth checking. It may be a bug.
Tweaks and improvements
- increase usability of env flw, At the moment it is not that smooth. Specifically, at short attack and delay settings, there is no movement.
- have any tone-generating units playable with a keyboard.
- create a curve setting which goes from 0 straight to 1 without a half way point
- have an option in settings to have an automation lane move with its corresponding effect when swopping the order in the chain.
- more presets for filter pattern, arranger etc.
- for slicer, "swing" presets, "swing" variable or "swing" setting.
- filter pattern sweep speed should really be beat synced in my opinion.
- delay fx need an input vol variable or simply to have the bottom 10% of its main control as a "no input zone".
Suggestions for version 2.
- an x and a y dictator, assign each variable to either "x", "y" or "mean of X & Y"
- editor to make new filter patterns and arranger settings
- include a basic delay, multitap delay and a tape style delay
