Great, that seems to have cured the crackling for now.

Can't get any sound out of it in Reaper v3.7(?). Works with Savihost.

A new BR808 beta build is online, with three new features at the oscillators.
1. Optional force-modulation-sourceoscindex-selection (default setting is the old last-osc-as-source behaviour)
2. Optional force-hardsync-sourceoscindex-selection (default setting is the old last-osc-as-source behaviour)
3. Optional force-mix-osc-to-output (default setting is the behaviour that the last active osc is the output osc)
With these new features BR808 should be again yet more flexible, I think. But these new feature should be tested yet.

I'm having trouble with global reverb in that I can't turn it off without shutting down all sound at the same time, am I missing something here?

You must set at the "Globals" sub tab page under the InNstruments" parent tab page "Reverb" to "-Inf db" and Output, Delay, or Chorus/Flanger for example to "0.00 dB", whatever to what global effect(s) you do want to route the instrument channel outputV'ger wrote:I'm having trouble with global reverb in that I can't turn it off without shutting down all sound at the same time, am I missing something here?

Thanks a lot for this synth!
I can't figure out how the speech synthesizer works though. The help part doesn't help me actually: could you post a small example on how to make it talk?

Even when I turn the instrument reverb down to -Inf db, all sound will disappear..bero wrote:You must set at the "Globals" sub tab page under the InNstruments" parent tab page "Reverb" to "-Inf db" and Output, Delay, or Chorus/Flanger for example to "0.00 dB", whatever to what global effect(s) you do want to route the instrument channel outputV'ger wrote:I'm having trouble with global reverb in that I can't turn it off without shutting down all sound at the same time, am I missing something here?"Output" is the raw output, which you do want in your case right?
It seems you can't BR808 make a sound without the internal reverb in use?
I basically want to switch off all reverb completely to save CPU on each BR808 instance (and just use a normal reverb on a send bus in the mixer).

And "Output" left of "Reverb" set it to "0.00db", you will hear sound again, even without reverb.V'ger wrote:Even when I turn the instrument reverb down to -Inf db, all sound will disappear..
As small hint: BR808 is multitimbral-on-MIDI-channel-base, so that you can assign a program preset to every each MIDI channel (for example over a MIDI program change command, or force-set over the VSTi BR808 UI).V'ger wrote:I basically want to switch off all reverb completely to save CPU on each BR808 instance (and just use a normal reverb on a send bus in the mixer).
I believe I'll make small reaper project files now, to demostrate this for you.

Ah yes, sorry, you already said that..bero wrote:And "Output" left of "Reverb" set it to "0.00db", you will hear sound again, even without reverb.V'ger wrote:Even when I turn the instrument reverb down to -Inf db, all sound will disappear..
Yes this is definitely a nice feature helping a lot with CPU usage. But do you have any plans for implementing multiple audio outputs to assign the various channels? (I guess 32 would be ideal)bero wrote:As small hint: BR808 is multitimbral-on-MIDI-channel-base, so that you can assign a program preset to every each MIDI channel (for example over a MIDI program change command, or force-set over the VSTi BR808 UI).

Been playing more with this and getting the hang of things now, but sorely miss a better preset system..
Switching between presets causes the synth to stutter and can take several seconds to do, and the preset number to channel is very unusual and not ideal.
Imo it should be the other way around: Choose a channel and set preset to that, but not set with a button click like now, just automatically loaded as you browse. Preferably from a big preset browser or list window. But still with the option to cycle through the list with arrows.

What do you mean with switiching? Loading a preset from a FXP file? Loading a bank from a FXB file? Change the program patch number of a MIDI channel? etc.?V'ger wrote:Switching between presets causes the synth to stutter and can take several seconds to do, and the preset number to channel is very unusual and not ideal.
Maybe together with a optional "set immediately"-checkbox, so that the from-you-wished feature is optional?V'ger wrote:Imo it should be the other way around: Choose a channel and set preset to that, but not set with a button click like now, just automatically loaded as you browse. New beta build is online, with a second VSTi plugin variant called BR808MultiOutput.dll with 17 stereo output channels (with 1 master sum stereo + 16 stereo midi channels) !V'ger wrote:Yes this is definitely a nice feature helping a lot with CPU usage. Hey, thanks for putting this synth out! It looks cool, lots of potential. I just got what I'm assuming is the newest build and trying it out in Energy XT 2.5, but getting the same problem as before, namely that presets will load, but there's no sound. The .fxb bank won't load from the synth GUI, I have to use XT's loader, then the synth changes color to sort of copper and I can change presets, but no sound. Then I tried the multi-out version and got a "getbuffer failed" error, and there was no audio or MIDI and I had to reboot my laptop. I'm looking forward to good times soon playing this synth, and thanks again.
