My bad. It might be a good idea to just add mwheel to the key-binding screen anyway, incase others want different actions bound to it - and since the options menu is a strange place for it.

Thanks though, Modulr :)

I don't know if this has been said yet, and I'm too lazy to go back and check.... straight and curved line tools for drawing controller data...

All of these tips are great but I in keeping with the Tracktion spirit:

I think that the general idea for the piano roll should be easy, and quick, yet allow for functionality you can't get in your run of the mill note sequencer.

I'm not saying anything contrary to the opinion of this forum just trying to condense the essence down to a general guidline. Let's push the envelope.

Tracktion's GUI is really cool but I see a need to have a possibility to zoom the pianoroll onto full screen mode.

Linked midi clips. This way if you change a note in one of them, the change will take place in all the copies of that clip. Then we won't have to delete them all and re-copy/paste the entire bunch.

yes, for dual monitor setups especially.

The one screen concept would be nice, but not realistic for the complexities of a DAW... Simplicity can be viewed a lot of ways, including just being really familiar with a program... The programs I like/use the most, max out the editing screen when editing a clip, so you focus on the job at hand... I don't need to see anything else when I'm editing the notes for a couple of bars of an instrument! Same with mixing, that's what you're working on at the time... that should be the focus! Other than editing automation and controllers, like in Logic screensets, seems a dedicated edit window would be the answer in Tracktion...

Logic screensets are nice, indeed.

My vote goes to:

1)
Linked Midi clips (as PT described)

2)
Some kind of logical editor (AND OR NOT) for custom editing of midi events. Small ala txt files created in this editor could be then shared within user community. Think quasi MFX functionality without GUI and without need for programming of any kind. Everyone could make their own "LogiTracks" and share them with others. Mirroring, inverting, arpeggios, scales, chords, resizing to same duration, resizig by same amount,...

3)
Overall, I think SONAR is the way for getting some good ideas in this respect. Maybe some SONAR gurus can share ideas here.

I like the option to make the midi editor full screen. A button to click for full screen and then click to return to default.

(I think this could be good for racks also as some people make complex racks and may also not have the best eye-sight.) A bit OT.

( Full screen mixing ) Further OT.

I like to work this way. For drum programming I like to have each sound on a different track since it makes it easier for me to arrange a song and also have separate effects on each drum sound. Since programming for a single drum sound you essentially use one note I'd like to be able to have the option of editing the note without having to zoom into the edit. Maybe a drum edit mode where on the left you specify the note to be played (c3) and the edit window can be edited and seen without zooming.

I guess maybe just an option to resize the editor without having to resize the track itself. This way you can make quick edits without having to zoom in.

Grooves need sorting out, I miss those badly.
Yeah. I would deeply love being able to apply groove quantizing of note-starts only.

PIANO ROLL IMPROVEMENTS, my votes go to...

1) Full screen piano roll (opened by clicking a "Piano roll" button, so its unobtrusive to people who don't want to use that feature. That would be fantastic for complicated, in-depth midi editing without having to continually zoom the tracktion interface. The piano roll could default at the width of the midi clip you are editing.

2) Midi clip ghosting:

At the moment, if you have a really long track which uses one midi triggered drum loop throughout (notes triggering drum hits) then you have to do a shedload of copying and pasting if you want to change the loop throughout. Then if you had alternate drum loops, fills, you'd have to change them all too...

If you had "ghosted" midi clips, that means you could have like 3 or 4 "master" midi clips which had ghosted copies pasted repeatedly... meaning, you edit the master clip and then all the other clips change, saving ALOT of time. From someone who has worked with a few different sequencers, and works alot with midi, we need this feature implemented
Cheers

Improvements:

* Each track remember its medium height (very useful).

* Step editing mode.
- When you press a key the sequencer write a note of the current length. When you release the keys the cursor advance.
- Also edit and delete notes with computer keyboard at cursor position.

* When you press Ctrl/Alt/Shift in pencil mode the note behind is deleted.

* Small heights of the track can show piano roll. Sometimes one track only has one or two notes (rythmical tracks).

* Disable notes.
