Those videos were very helpful, I especially liked the lfo modulating itself....Howard wrote:I haven't made any more ACE videos yet, but as soon as I find the time, I'll do a bunch of "tips+tricks" ones.

The videos are really well done so far

i had a little issue with the installer - i tried to install over my ACE in C:\VST\ and C:\VST\ACE.data\ - but, it kept saying that C:\VST\ACE.data was 'not a valid file location' until i manually added the final \ to make it c:\VST\ACE.data\
it's a minor bug, but something you might like to check out. i can reproduce it by trying to install over my new 1.1 - it rejects the default path that it generates.
thanks for the update!

Urs & team, thanks for the Ace update - what a great synth! Usually i don't care about presets, but your patches are works of art Howard. Very much looking forward to see more videos also.

Actually, yes it does!keel wrote:Does this update fix space button stealing in FL?
It has never really been a problem. All you need to do is, click the settings icon on the top left side of the editor window and tick "don't allow key focus"
I have no clue as to why FL doesn't process the unused events, and why they wouldn't send key events via the standard VST methods. Like most decent hosts do... but what do I know...
However, problem solved

sorry urs, I think I did misremember some weird combination of that high pass filter post and something you said at some point about the ACE filter sounding 'diode-ish' due to how it was programmed. I thought I remembered some comment made about the possibility of adding other filter modes in ACE for softer tones, but I might be just completely off my rocker.
I certainly didn't mean to imply ACE sounds 'bad' at all, its actually one of my favourite synths. I just find its tone more suitable for noisy mono patches to lush chords (to which I normally go to zebra)... Probably for the best until I get a supercomputer anyway

I know that.. Only problem is that when you do that, you lost your mousewheel. It will disable that too, which is not nice at all. On some plugins the mousewheel still working, like in v-station, but not in your plugins, sorry.Urs wrote:Actually, yes it does!keel wrote:Does this update fix space button stealing in FL?

Hmmm... I guess that's because I think the VST 2.3 way of MouseWheel support was ditched in VST 2.4, or just changed... I think something was deprecated... don't remember exactly. I might have a look next week. Maybe you should ask IL why key focus is bundled with mouse events? That's kind of odd, to say the least.keel wrote:

I'm happy to workaround exotic host behaviour, but it would help if they would document what they do and why. Reverse engineering such flaws is tedious

I use ACE and Massive now for almost all my "analog" needs, except if I want a minimoog bass or something then I go to Arturia miniV. The only thing I don't like about ACE is the thin-sounding sync sweep. But Ace's stellar sound quality and modular design is brilliant and will always keep me coming back for more.

The sad part comes here. I already have asked, like 5 times. They just don't care. Never ever get any answers. So f**k themUrs wrote:Maybe you should ask IL why key focus is bundled with mouse events?
You are not the only one. The fabfilter plugins steal it too (I ask them to fix it, they promised to check it). Crashmaster steal it too, I asked Bulent to fix it, but he failed to fix it. At least he tried to fix it many times, I guess. Some NI stuff and many many many other plugins steal it too.

Perhaps I'm not thinking of something, but it seems like the 64-bit AU version isn't included with the installer. I've downloaded and installed twice, and Logic (64-bit mode) still only sees it as a 32-bit AU. It also looks like the ACE AU found in the Components folder is dated 12/5/09. The VST version is dated 7/23/11.Urs wrote:
