If you could possibly pm me a guide line of what needs to be done.

So I'm handing over the reins to mcnoone. As someone who participated in the contests right from the start I'm sure that he's capable of doing justice to the job!

I am game for this one. Sounds like fun. I guess creativity will take over the technical abilities.hakey wrote:Any ideas?

I think it would be better to use 4 or 5 presets that are designed specifically for the competition.satYatunes wrote:I am game for this one. Sounds like fun. I guess creativity will take over the technical abilities.hakey wrote:Any ideas?

I (or someone else willing to) could design maybe 5 different simple, basic sounding presets using various filter types and sound sources, and other modules, leaving XY slots empty.
Then routing would be left to the user for all 4 xy controllers.
I think I can design the presets to have as much options as possible.
Such as having osc fx that are set to 0 default, but don't effect the tone until routed to the xy.
Although a tweak individual modulation sources, and add xy modulations could also be considered.
It's definitely something that everyone else interested in doing the competition needs to agree to though.
Maybe just keeping an agreed upon set up like, 2 sound source modules, and 2 filters, designed and tweaked with the xy's mapped.
My suggestion would be the chord type sounds.
Chord, stabs, pads, plugs, and such.

That would be my choice too. But keep things as simple as possible and just call it "Chords" or "One Finger Chords" or similar.mcnoone wrote:My suggestion would be the chord type sounds.

Adding "stabs, pads, plugs" etc. runs the risk of unnecessarily complicating things; someone could interpret it as "make a patch that is either a chord *or* a stab *or* a pad".
(Btw, what kind of sound is a "plug"?)

Assign and setup controls of existing modules and tweak in perform section without changing anything else!
Than .zip or .rar your variations and send them!
I find this idea interesting as well!
I can make 5 different patches for this contest and than will hand them over to hakey and maybe hakey will hand them over to mcnoone to check and refine them.
So, should I start working on this?

Sorry, I can't guarantee that I'll be around to contribute - and, tbh, out of all the suggestions it's my least favourite.I can make 5 different patches for this contest and than will hand them over to hakey and maybe hakey
"Chords" still has my vote.

Yea, actually that's what I meant. Chords. I was just using the stabs and pads, as those type of chord sounds. You know the various chord types.hakey wrote:That would be my choice too. That's the sound a chord makes when you put it into an electrical outlet.hakey wrote: (Btw, what kind of sound is a "plug"?)
You should try it some time.
It was a talking while typing at the same time error really.
I think Brian's idea would be great if there was some set of basic starter sound templates, that aren't any presets done by someone, that wouldn't want their sounds used for that purpose. Some templates made for that kind of xy programing comp, might make for interesting things.
Using other peoples presets for it, wouldn't be a good idea imo.

Those would be the name of the pre-made patches instead of calling them "pad" or "keys" or anything else.hakey wrote:3ee wrote:A B C D E![]()
Not my favorite idea as well but just a thought in the XY patching suggestion.
