1. FMbox

Nice controller implementation and the sound of what a DX would do if it could beatbox makes this the most interesting patch for me. Fun to mess around with, too.

2. Another Velocity Sensitive FM Thing

FM, but not too obviously so, which I like, and usable for comping. Could have benefited from some more controller response, but it's perfect for very basic keyboards. Plus, I keep playing this one.

3. Above & Beyond

Nice depth (even though it's a bit heavy on the FX), and plenty of character. Having it in the right key when I'm playing is always nice, too.

Well, there it is. Lots of other good stuff, considering how quickly FM can degenerate into noise, but these struck me as my favorites. Great job, everyone!

superb patches this month

as I imagened: reduction is sometimes expansion

so here my votes:

1. KY Iceworks

I just like the sound

2. Super 8 memories

great idea and realisation
I can see the old cinema where the movie plays

3. Crystalkeys

I like this sound too, simple and good
could need a bit more modulations via XY
but I'll add them to my taste ;-)

thanks for everyone who partizipated

1. FM Clavistar+

2. Arpeggiarmoniks

3. FM Lab

FM Clavistar I like as it's a really flexible 'bread and butter' style patch. X/Y pads really well configured to give a wide range of sounds but still all really useable. Too much delay for my taste but easy to get rid of that. Really like the nice throatiness in the lower registers.

Arpeggiarmoniks I had to turn the arpeggiator and delay off but really like the basic sound, loads of punch and dirt. I like 'in your face' aggressive sounds like this.

FM Lab. Again, like the 'in your face-ness' of this. It's a really lively patch that's a lot of fun to play around with and can quite easily begin to sound crazy mental. Nice. Bit more control over this from the X/Y and i would have been higher up the list probably.

Top stuff from everyone though - thanks to the organisers!

Shouldn't the noise generator in 'Bad Things Happen' be disallowed though ; )

Wow! So many great patches in this roundup! And sad to have to only pick 3, cause it was hard to pick. I would give myself more time, but since I'm going to be super busy right into the weekend, this is it:

1. Above and Beyond : Very nice flexible liquid pad with really nice variations.

2. Fiamo Morgan + : I don't know what it is about his one, but I kept going back to it. There's something I find beautifully hypnotic about it.

3. Crystal Keys : Typical delicate chorused FM bells which also works really well as a pad with the mod wheel up.

I must be in a relaxed diatonic mood this week.

Hello all - thanks for all the nice patches - auditioning them was fun:

#1 - Good Morning Info Highway - great fun tweaking the performance pads, very well produced FX, sounded the most polished to me.

#2 - FMBox - again fun to tweak, nice rhythm, great mix and use of noisy FM, the bass has a nice internal life.

#3 - strings1 - nice organic sound, fun for trilling in mono retrig.Good use of feedback.

wish I could add fiamo morgan, nice patch, as is Super 8 which was a great use of MSEG.

Cheers

Wow, this contest really makes it tough to choose. A lot of good stuff in there. I had a really hard time coming up with a list of three. And I had an even harder time putting them into an order. Alas, I needed some help. I threw of couple of gleechlfo's into the mix to help with moving those x/y pads around and then started in with a bunch of sequencers and generators. The first two in the list were decided in that manner and both are trying to end up in a tune with the "pickles" preset from the ZPC 08. They both had a vast array of useful sounds that were really easy to dial in. The 3rd I decided to add because I can find so many uses for it, I really like the movement I get in there.

1. Good Morning Info Highway
2. DuoFM
3. Bad Things Happen

Honorable mention to Crystal Keys and Fiamo Morgan which I wish I could have added as well. Thanks to all of you who submitted your work. Your effort is appreciated.
