Any Sonar + Zebra2 under Win7 users here?

My question: Is anyone who runs Zebra2 in Sonar / Win7 having problems (re)naming patches? A customer says that keystrokes are being sent to the host instead...
Thanks in advance for any reports

I'm not at my DAW machine now, but here's something to investigate. A plug-in's property page is supposed to have a send-keystrokes-to-host button (it has a tiny keyboard image on it). If it's enabled, the plug won't get the keyboard input.

I think the problem is, the customer has keystrokes enabled, but still can't rename presets or anything properly.
We're trying to figure out what to do.

Z2 demo mode in Sonar X1 64-bit and 32-bit on Vista. With the "Give all keystrokes to plug-in" button turned on, keystrokes are incorrectly going to Sonar when the "Save Preset" dialog is displayed. When it's not displayed (but the button is turned on) keystrokes are correctly sent to Zebra.

forgive me if i'm having a mental mishap... how can you test keystrokes going to the plugin when the dialog is not displayed?Meffy wrote:Z2 demo mode in Sonar X1 64-bit and 32-bit on Vista. Hmmm... I guess it's all about dialogs rather than controls within the editor...?

If the keystrokes don't do what they're supposed to in Sonar, I assume they're being sent to Zebra. Could be wrong.
Are there (non-Save dialog) key shortcuts I can try? I'll be glad to dig into the docs if it will help, just installed the demo to test this out so I'm a complete noob at Z.

[Edited because I mistakenly called the button "Give all keystrokes to Sonar", which is backwards.]
Ah, here we go -- browsing the preset list uses the arrow keys. They behave as expected whether "Give all keystrokes to Plug-in" is on or off, both in the Patches page and in the Save Preset dialog, as long as Zebra has the keyboard focus. When Sonar has the focus, the arrow keys select tracks, etc.
Here's where it gets weird. With the Save Preset dialog up, some keystrokes type into the text fields, or do some other function, while other keystrokes trigger Sonar functions. For instance, with "Give all keystrokes to Plug-in" turned on and Save Preset displayed, the Spacebar will type a space in whichever field is active; when "Give all" is off, Spacebar toggles Sonar's playback on and off. These two behaviors are as expected.
However, in the same situation the "T" key doesn't type a "T", it toggles X1's tool pop-up on and off, its usual function in Sonar. Likewise, "A" brings up AudioSnap, "H" the Track Manager, and so on -- which should happen only when "Give all" is turned off.
That's under Sonar X1. In Sonar 8.5 the behavior seems normal. In either version, commands with modifier keys, such as "Ctrl-O" or "Shift-F6", invoke the appropriate Sonar functions regardless of whether "Give all" is on or off.
Hope this helps. I can go into more depth if need be, run a test build with logging, etc.

Yep I am seeing the same thing in 8.5. Everything seems to be working properly. Haven't had a chance to try X1 yet though.

Hmmm, so X1 is like a newer version of Sonar?
Anyone in for sending a bug report?
Like in Samplitude, I don't think I can do anything about it by "fixing" my code or doing workarounds - the pop up dialog itself is a workaround already. I have a tiny idea though, but I'm not sure it'll help. It's best if Sonar is fixed to 8.5 behaviour... I guess?

I'll have a look at it - I have X1 and Win 7 - tbh I never use X1 and wish I'd not bought it it's so buggy, but I will to see if I can replicate this bug

Confirmed - that would be very annoying if I was using Sonar. Every keystroke is just opening up various toolbars and mixer views etc in Sonar. Even with "Give keystrokes to plugin" enabled it does it. However I was able to open Notepad and copy/paste text into the fields which is a temporary workaround (but only with "Give keystrokes to plugin" - without it it wouldn't even let me do that)
This was with 32 bit Sonar (my system is 64 bit but most of my plugins are still 32 bit and I don't like bridges) - I will try installing the 64 bit version too now though to see if it does it in that

Hi,
I am most likely the customer that brought this problem up with X1.The only key strokes that work are ones that have no shortcut to Sonars menus. Cakewalk wanted me to send them the project so they can document it. I have not done that yet because the new update to X1C is due out soon. Cakewalk said this update may fix the problem, although I am skeptical about that seeing as they did not seem to be aware of the problem when I first reported it.Its good to hear that I am not the only one experiencing the issue.
Thanks, Paul.

I would send it anyway, even though I don't see why they need a project as it's any project.zbpc1 wrote:Hi,
