Confirmed. Same here on a q6600/winxp sp3 . That even happens if you are in the standalone mode. While the spike is not huge i would say, the patch itself while playing is around 4%. If you learned a knob and turn it via modwheel, its going up to 20%. Too much, in a production that would be a complete mess. The gui of zeta+ 2 takes also way too much ram , around 300 mb??? Forget to convert photoshop-format into jpeg or something?DrWashington wrote:No, it seems to happen across the board. I'm using Cubase 6.0.3 (32-bit). I'm running it on 64-bit Win7 Ultimate. Computer is i7-930 @ 3.8GHz, RME Fireface 400, 6GB DDR3 @ 1451MHz, etc.benstat wrote:Does it happen with a particular preset (or presets), or all of them? Could you give some details about your system please?DrWashington wrote:whenever I MIDI learn a knob and then use the controller (e.g., mod wheel or expression pedal) to 'turn' the knob, I get huge CPU spikes.
Thanks,

Anybody else out there experiencing this?? It's ever so annoying...

I found the bug of Z3ta+2.
When CPU of PC is Q6600, a specific tone is very very heavy.
CPU Usage ("VST Performance", Cubase6 )
----------------------------------------
Tone Name / CPU Usage
----------------------------------------
Mangling Aftertouch FS / 55%
Alpha Centauri 1 FI / 30%
----------------------------------------
My friend's PC (CPU Q6600) is same.
My friend's PC (CPU Core i5) is OK.
---
Request:
I want to use the "micro tuning" again....

The Amp EG Release is turned way up on that patch....Adjusting it from the 2 o'clock position to the 10 o'clock position reduces CPU from 33% to 8% here (I have a Q6600 WinxXP SP3 as well). Don't think it's a bug..........kontakt wrote:Mangling Aftertouch FS / 55%
EDIT: Same with Mangling Aftertouch....reducing the Amp Release drastically reduces CPU demand but......on that patch I'm finding that the Release Knob does not move smoothly....it's very jerky....I don't find that with the other patches I've tried...maybe something funky going on with that patch....
....Yep something strange going on with that patch....tested in Reaper and Orion....None of the knobs respond smoothly....I'll test further....
EDIT 2:
Ok that patch suffers from this bug found by plauto:

Thanks, we'll take a look.

That's some bug, should have been noticed right away![]()

Oho! Thank you! Well, at least it SOUNDS really good... would love to be able to actually use it! Indeed, they should focus more resources to squashing these bugs, ASAP. I was so pumped for this release, mainly because this is one of the few good-sounding synths out there that has an easy system for setting min/max values on a MIDI learnt knob, and therefore it's fantastic for playing lead with a foot pedal--something I really love doing.1-2-Many wrote:Added to the list, #10DrWashington wrote:...whenever I MIDI learn a knob and then use the controller (e.g., mod wheel or expression pedal) to 'turn' the knob, I get huge CPU spikes. I also just figured out that pitch bend from the same keyboard doesn't do this. Just traditional 7-bit MIDI CCs seem to do it.

Also, while I'm thinkin' about it, if you're going to use a comb filter and set said comb filter cutoff to, say, the modwheel for a preset, you'd better have some kind of smoothing algorithm to interpolate values: otherwise you get a nasty-sounding, digital-fluff mess whenever you move said controller. Sounds TERRIBLE.
Seriously: parameter smoothing should be STANDARD these days... what year is it??

Not a bug but..........why no EG ADSR as Mod destinations?

I haven't explored Z3ta+ much, but u mean you can't mod the EG ADSR from an LFO?

Not unless I'm missing something very obvious......I've got it open right now and I don't see any entries in the Mod Destinations about the EG's.......obviously they are available as Sources and Controls. I have to think I'm missing something as it's such a basic function that I can't imagine it's not possible........Velocity to Envelope Attack is so basic for example.........osiris wrote:I haven't explored Z3ta+ much, but u mean you can't mod the EG ADSR from an LFO?
But having said that I'm still loving Z2.....haven't had this much fun with an upgrade in a looooooooog time.......

I agree 100%....Certainly not off topic at all...VSTJuNkiE wrote:Sounds like they better re-hire Rene....![]()
(sorry for the OT..)
z3ta+ 1.5.3 is one of my favourite soft synths of all time...
I'm not sure that the new incarnation has quite the same "mojo"...
Time will tell I guess ....
Yes Sir...CW - please bring Rene's genius back to help breathe some true inspiration into the VSTi development...
And while you're at it - make BT (Nico) his right hand man...
They are a great team...
