Hi there! Im having a good time with ACE, this synth is so good. But i'm also having a hard time to understand the routings and patching capabilities.

The diagram in the manual is good, the one in youtube better. But there's so much that is said that can be done but it's not shown how to.

We have 2 filters in ACE. In order to hear the second filter, i have to turn up the AMP2 volume. This default routing is paralell or in series?

How do i know if the filters are in parallel or in series? This might sound really noob but i can't see in my head this routings in ACE. I have a Virus C and i have the options to choose the different configurations for the filters (SER4, SER6, PARA, SPLIT, etc...) so i dont need to worry about the audio route.

It would be easier if we had some screen shots or diagrams of how to use:

-the filters in parallel
-the filters in series
-how to modulate the envelopes with the own envelopes
-how to make the filter resonate

We have 2 outputs in the filter. The top one (in both filters) is pre wired to the amps??? We can only use low pass for those.

I can only hear the second output of the filters if i connect a cable from it to the mains amps. This means that, if i want to HP, BR or BP filters i have to patch the second output? It's really confusing.

Please, if someone have a deep knowledge of the routing configurations, would you be kind enough to post some screenshots of how to do it?

I would be really grateful.

IT would be nice if we had a bigger manual, with lots of routings possibilities, at least the classic or more used ones.

Thx a lot

Hello,

this diagram was recently published by Howard, I find it much better than the one in the manual, it helped me a lot on understanding the default ACE wirings.

Hope it helps,

Hey mate thx alot! Definetely is better than the one in the manual, gave some new insights.

However, still a lot it doesn't cover, and my questions still unanswered. :(

cable things how you want...

For example, if you want filters in series, cable the output of one filter into the input of the other filter

once you add a cable, it overrides the default routing

Hummm i see mate, thx a lot, it's starting to make more sense to me now, the pieces of the puzzle are fitting together... lol

Hey, actually, after going thru the diagram again (the one from the link) a few times, things are getting clear now.

I'm so happy with this synth, i feel like my Virus and my Moog are abandoned now LOL, cause i'm spending hours only with ACE. Great work Urs, i hope you keep improving it and adding more routing capabilites in every new version.

I decided to take another aproach now. I think that will be easier to understand the routings by doing a "reverse engineering" in all the patches that comes with ACE. I open a patch, play a few notes and start to pay attention in all the patching that has been done. Then i unplug cable by cable, and in the end, i initialize the patch and try to recreate by myself, i think it's a good one to start understanding more deeply this great synth.

all the best

By far the best way to learn the basics of ACE is to read the manual ;)
...and maybe watch the video tutorials at
